...which is why, although I've been tempted to act otherwise, I won't buy a Duc. They'll make a mechanic out of a rider.

Speaking of which, have you read about the guy who did a several month long cross country ride on a Panigale?

i haven't heard that, i've heard about a few rides that span continents, but there are so many cross country riders now, i can't keep track.

and yes, outside of serious engine/transmission work, i have basically rebuilt mine.

It's long as hell but a good read. I've contemplated buying the book he's written about the experience, but... Eh.

Knowing how to work on a bike is essential IMO. Having to rebuild it is something completely different, and its why I'll stick to my RR.

Just a few - Spermie was my first Taco (bottom of the line, but a f'ing CHAMPION), and then there are a few from various motorcycle shows she was in. I was featured in a small magazine long ago (2008). The dark pic is at an Italian bike night in Newport Beach Cali with my friends MH900 Evoluzione. It's worth about 75k and he has won various awards.

Its an 05 749 Dark and this was back when Duc still had the dry clutch (music to my freaking ears), and with that and the 90 degree v-twin with a full race exhaust, it has a very unique sound.I love rolling up to a cruiser bar on her during a bike meet.

so, now that my interwebz are behaving.... my first streetbike was a 2007 honda CBR 600RR that i bought from a marine in my unit who had bought it on an impulse, then dropped her hub's bike trying to learn how to ride. the wreck happened about 10pm in early january, and while it doesn't get "cold" in camp pendleton, 5 hours of riding after a day of field training and an empty stomach.... anyway, i was going a bit too fast around a sweeping left turn and took my eyes out of the turn and put them into my headlights. i forced myself to look back into the turn, but at this point, the tree was picking a fight. i popped my front wheel up and managed to avoid the junction box while riding on the sidewalk, and was thinking i would exit gracefully on the blind people slope thingy. the tree kept talking shit. my bike went to my defense. right before impact, something told me to stand up, and push off the handlebars. i did. i bounced off the tree, and was flung into the street pole where i completed a loopdy loop and was thrown all the way to the intersection. i heard my buddy ride up and he was freaking out (understandably), but he said he calmed down when he saw me pop my visor and heard me singing "twinkle twinkle little star" as i laid there like an asshole. an EMT lived right by the wreck and heard it. he came out and gave me a once over and ordered me to the hospital. i told them to put me back on my bike and i'd ride it home before i went to the ER..... needless to say, they brought my truck and i was carted off in a minivan. no serious injuries outside of a broken heart, contusions, a sad wallet and hours of jokes from my buddies. taught me a fantastic lesson about a few things: never outride your experience level, ALWAYS wear your gear, and ALWAYS keep full coverage. Insurance wouldn't pay out because I didn't have a police report. We scrapped her and i moved on to an R6 for a few months to get my "legs back", and then onto my Duc. She had 317 miles on her. Rest In Pieces, Giselle.

yeah, a credit to honda, none of the welds broke. the frame however, wasn't meant to withstand a 60+ mph head on collision.

Just in case anyone in wondering, a general grabber 33x12.5x17 will not fit under the bed if you have a bruteforce bumper. It won't fit even if you cut the stock tire placement horns off.

So here's a question, how do I carry this damn tire with the bed completely full of gear? Oh, and I need a solution by next Wednesday.

Well, I'm pulling a trailer and carry four bicycles in the bed so the hitch is out. I may luck out and be able to put it on the tongue of the popup I'm renting.

Damn dude :( I'm glad you're okay and back on two wheels after that. The 749 is one of the sexier models Duc has had IMHO.

Honda makes a bulletproof bike. I'm a fanboy for good reason.

    Strap it to your hood.
