I realize that, but IMHO it says a lot about the truck itself when it's the absolute rock bottom performer.

Plus, there's kind of a difference between major offroading, and just climbing a hill.

I think he is aware of this. Tacoma is overkill in his case.

Which Sub? Our next buy is looking like an Outback.

Dunno why but kinda makes me wonder about maintenance costs and tire wear with AWD. But whatever mama wants, mama gets.

Last time I read Honda was doing away with the Ridgeline because of dismal sales? No?

You could always stick with a SR5 PreRunner.

Sounds like an impulse buy which I know a lot about! You reasons still don't make a lot of sense to me but you gotta do what you gotta do. Though, I wouldn't be surprised when you regret it a month later.

With it being a 2012, your "out of balance drive shafts" issue should all be covered by warranty, shouldn't it?

Puzzles me why people bother telling everyone when they plan to buy a jeep or a Honda or something else.. Just do it if you like it, I'll be driving my taco for quite some time because that's what I love. Praise be to the taco

And if you read my post; Ridgeline made it through a NH winter without any problems, including up over an unplowed Class 6 in Maine...the little lite "blinked" on the dash and IT never spun....also made it across some "tame" Class 6's here in NH during "harvest time" with the grandkids in tow...Kids,pumpkins,peaches and berries all FIT nicely in the Ridgeline( especially using that hidden trunk space/ice chest:D )

With the Pilot and Ridgeline combined we have over 120k miles of "real life" speaking...not an article from the media .....just my 2 cents...;)

No, we did not take the Ridgeline on any trails that the Tacoma "runs" across BUT I do not take the Tacoma on any 2800 mile round trips to Florida either..:)

I think a lot of people forget a pickup is meant to haul some form of load.

Only after it gets x-fer case, lifts and larger tires at some level does it become a 4wd truck, stock or modded, suitable of going offroad.

In other words, comparing a ridgeline to Tacoma offroading is as uneducated as comparing an x-runner to a Ferrari on a closed course race track.....Priuses suck offroad too I bet, Tacoma is a bad performer on Nascar course...... do comparisons within the expected range of use.

Ridgeline likely targets buyers who have no desire to go 4wheeling, and with that, maybe someone will learn that you can respect something , even if you just don't like it.
Just because CR compared the 2 doesn't mean ridgeline is going any farther than a rough gravel road. PS Ridgeline doesn't fit 35".

Since OP doesn't plan to go 4 wheeling , comparing how bad the ridgy did uphill on offroad misses the entire point of the ridgeline. I bet the old El Camino truck was a crappy offroader too.....is the on road intent of Ridgeline sinking in yet?

I too considered a Ridgeline but I couldn't stand the bed design. The way it swoop downward. I liked the awd setup up but the mileage is horrible. The interior is beautiful and useful IMO. If Honda have plans to fix that bed design and increase the mileage I would've consider buying a Ridgeline instead of waiting for the next gen Tacoma. my 02

Would be almost as dumb as buying a Dodge. The Ridgeline is going out of production and even though it is a Honda it will take a rapid decrease in value. Add to that it is ugly as shit and..... well you get my stance.

Have a news link or Honda press piece relating to the demise of the Ridgeline?

Check out autoblog, Ridgeline is simply taking a "dirt nap" for a couple years before being resurrected.

I got a Ridgeline and put on some modifications to make it just how I wanted it. I think it came out great.
