Another Tacoma in town is running 235s on the stock steel rims and it looks so funny. Part of the proablem is I just can't stand oem steel rims. Your rims look nice on your truck they give it a sporty street look.

    Thanks. :)
The Enkeis are wider than the stock wheels, and the wider lower profile 235/60/16 Yokohamas are within 1% of the stock 5 lug 215/70/15 diameter, so the speedometer and odometer stay accurate.

It's definitely a totally 100% street truck. I'm saving up for a XII rear sway bar to make it handle the mountain roads better.

5 lug Tacomas have the same bolt pattern as Ford Mustangs, so there is a surprisingly wide variety of wheels available.

I was around when they were new school and always liked that style.;)

+ jeep cherokee's and wranglers use the 5x4.5 pattern, I have seen few 5 lug taco's with TJ wrangler wheels and they look pretty decent.

I like your idea on the spacer and love the custom prototype intake you did, I have always thought if a header is so efficient for exhaust flow to help the engine make HP why not make a reverse flow style header for intake (or two and use two stock throttle bodies wired together.)

It's not impossible if you have the ability to reprogram the software.

I've seen a few 5.7 Chevy engines with a cross-ram intake and dual TBI units. Problem with those is they are 100% high-RPM manifolds, given that they were designed for carbs or TBI. The added volume of the 2nd plenum kills flow velocity and allows the fuel to drop out of suspension, or not properly atomize in the first place.

Port injection changed a lot of the rules, as plenum volume is no longer as critical, but high velocity flow from long, narrow runners still rules the roost for low RPM pull.

The experimental tooter manifold goes on the dyno this Saturday to see how it works... :)

The stock 1.5 engine is already running an oversized Corolla 1ZZ 1.8 throttle body so I don't think it can take any more than that without going to forced induction.

Here's one which is exactly like a reverse header. it was made for a 3 bolt throttle body and likely made as a turbo intake since no plenum is necessary under pressure.

    The idea isn't original.

Here's an old Toyota intake manifold from the Philippines.

Oh, I didn't make that one!
I've just scoured the internet looking at hundreds of intake manifolds of all designs, searching for inspiring ideas.

lol, just don't argue with us , we'll all come out ok. I scour the 'net for high res photos of anything from galaxies to fighter jets. I suspect air intake searches are still normal.:D

I just didn't want to take credit for something I don't even have the skills to make. ;)

That would be really cool, except I don't think that the design of the engine could make use of that much intake...

...however, I had thought about a larger throttle body on our 2.7's similar to what I did with my 1.5. :)

The trick is to find a throttle body which uses the same electronic controls and has exactly the same wiring configuration. The most likely candidate just might be the throttle body off of a...

    4.0. ;)

    I will... :)
I'm trying to find the dimensions right now. On my 1.5, the larger throttle body had exactly the same bolt pattern as the stock one, so I had an adaptor CNC machined with an O ring gasket which would work equally well with both throttle bodies, while having a bore that matched the larger one...

    bth_IMG_7017_zps66a9ad63_da4d71ff16dfd952b737077f58da1eaf1225a260.jpg

...so the search is on for a Toyota Tacoma drive by wire throttle body with a larger bore while retaining the same bolt pattern. I'm hoping the 4.0 only has a slightly larger bore, and I'm waiting for one of the 6 cylinder guys to offer the dimensions of their throttle body.

The 2.7 throttle body has a 61mm bore and the bolt pattern is 65mm square. The 4.0 throttle body bore is 65mm and I don't know what the bolt pattern is yet.
