As a body on frame, or just after a full redesign of the pilot?

If you're not one of Honda's big 5 (accord, civic, CRV, pilot, odyssey) you aren't gonna get the famous honda resale value, buy if you don't mind a used car, those other models offer honda quality at a reduced price.

Did this become a lecture on supply side economics? Trickle down ridgeline anyone?

A Ridgeline would do everything I need it to do, just like the OP.

    But those looks. .................

    Not exactly...

The simple fact remains is this. The dealership will give you what they can for your trade. KBB or Black Book value aside it doesn't matter. If the dealership is not going to keep your trade then they will offer it up to a wholesaler and they will give them a price they are willing to pay. They will shop around until they find one that will give the most for your trade. If they plan on keeping your trade and selling it they "might" give you a little more. If the vehicle is not in demand (such as the Ridgeline) and is going out of production then it will be worth less than a much more sought after vehicle (such as our Tacoma's). Not many people are going to want a vehicle that is no longer being produced much less one that didn't sell well in the first place.

KBB is just a average of what one might expect to get on a trade. Sometimes more (in a more desirable market) sometimes less (in a less desirable market). But I promise you this. The dealership is there to make money and if they offer you more for your trade they will be less willing to come off the price of the vehicle they are selling.

Buying the Ridgeline to me would be like buying a Pontiac Aztec. That's just my opinion. You don't have to agree. I personally think they are one of the ugliest trucks (if you could call them that) on the road with the exception of the Durango.

I love Honda and have probably bought at least 10 over the years and have never had an issue with them.

I can't speak for the Ridgeline specifically, but many vehicles do increase in value when they're discontinued.
For example, a guy I knew got a ridiculous trade-in deal on his Ford Excursion the year after they were discontinued.

I do agree with you though, Hondas are great, Ridgelines are disgusting.

Please provide some fact to back up your fallible position!!! Again I think you are wrong on your opinion. Can you back yours up with fact? I provided you some decent support, yet, you're still convinced in your position. That would be talking out you're butt....when you base your opinion on emotion rather than supportable fact. No right or wrong since the OP is going to do what's best for him regardless of what any jackass here says, but my opinion at least has a sound argument.

The FJ is not a seller and is being discontinued, the 4-Runner is not a seller, the Land Cruiser is not a seller, so based on what you're saying, the FJ is going to bottom out with resale yet all have tremendous resale value...what say you? You truly don't understand supply side economics. Please don't pretend you do. Keep in mind the Ridgeline will be rebuilt as a 2016 model.

One more detail and then I am out of this discussion....

The local contractors that HAD GM's version of these have traded UP to the Ridgelines and are enjoying them; WHY??? Hondas rep. and much better MPG's....And they get to purchase them from the same dealers they got their GM's from...Honda dealer is on the left and "Bow-ties" to the right...;)

    SOSHeloPilot,

Good luck with your decision and if you have ANY REAL questions, just PM...Connie and I ONLY sold ours for better MPG's and miss it everytime we try to "day trip" with the grandkids...

The fact that I grew up in the car business most of my life and have a pretty solid understanding on how it works behind the scenes. Simple as that. You gave me a KBB site which I could care less about since that is a "average" of what you might expect to get. Some more, some less. I gave you facts of what the dealership will actually do when you take your trade in and if you refuse to accept those facts then that is not my issue. I can't tell you what the trade in value of a FJ will be or a Ridgeline etc. but I can tell you they will be less than normal than if they were still being produced baring just a small percentage of vehicles out there.

It seems to me you just want to argue and I'm not into that. You have your opinion I have mine. If you don't like / agree I could care less.

    Cheers

SOS if you decide on this Ridgeline, good for you. If this fits your needs then I'm happy for you :).

And you don't have to leave, there are a few members here who no longer own Tacomas and they still stick around. You're family!
