I just can't see how anybody could ever buy a front wheel drive sedan..........it just doesn't compute, but maybe that's because I'm German.

Discontinued so doesn't matter anyway. But you can see my point.

People buy cars for lots of different reasons. A fraction of them give 6 fucks about drive wheels.

This is true, unfortunately, and most of those people buy Accords and Camry's.

Leave the real cars (BMW, Audi, Merc) to drivers who know the difference.

I don't see what is unfortunate. Cars move people around. FWD does that just as simply as any other configuration.

I guess if you're not a car enthusiast, it doesn't really matter, but if you are, it makes a huge difference.

Agreed. But few, collectively, are enthusiasts. Many people just want reliability, good stereos, a comfy seat to park their ass and good MPG.

There's a market for everything and everybody, which is why I don't get why it matters what everyone else drives.

Sell the Fit and the Prius, and buy a previously enjoyed M3.

    You'll thank me later.

    - Second hand European cars are cheap because Americans are terrified of them.

    - I put brakes on all four corners of my Audi last summer for $250

    - Euro cars are a pleasure to work on. I wish something would go wrong with my car so I could bust out the tools.

I love german cars... BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, Audi/VW in that order. but I have to agree with what your saying.

When my X-Runner is closer to being paid off or gets paid off I fully intend on getting an E46 M3 or E39 M5 as BMW's haven't really let me or my family down in the past (My cousin has a 00 M5, A S52 swapped BMW 2002 (Roundie), His dad has a E28 535is and an E36 328I with 400K miles that they bought for like $300 from a friend running great)... I have had issues with my E34 540I with electronics and a cracked radiator (From an accident I had that the bodyshop didn't replace) and it oddly spewed some kind of odd oily mist from underneath at highway speeds that I never figured out what it was... And the driveline once collapsed because the guibo disintegrated. However... It never left me stranded.

I'm one of those afraid of out of warranty Audi's and VW's... For every great story I hear about them there is a handful of people raising their hands to say they had catastrophic problems with their Audi/VW... My aunt's 2001 VW New Beetle's engine had to be replaced in 2003, An friends Jetta went through 2 engines before he decided to buy an FJ cruiser, My friend just replaced the turbo on his B5 S4 (has had a lot of electrical problems since he bought it), Another friends wife thought it would be cute to buy a 2004 A4 to commute 110 miles to/from work... That lasted a whole month (transmission lost a few gears), A guy on GCF (gaycarfans) recently traded in his 2011 Golf TDI with 67K miles because it was having HPFP problems (fuel pump related) and it was going to be around $5000 to fix.

VW/Audi have a strong fan base and they understand that it comes down to the luck of the draw and accept frequent repairs as cost to own a otherwise very well put together car. Audi's designs are timeless and never age... My oldest sister has a 2005(?) VW Beetle Turbo and has not had a single problem for the 2 hard driven years she's had it.

And this right here is why America gets all the boring, soft, slow, and heavy versions of every fun car. Take pretty much every Type R honda ever. America never gets them because most of us are morbidly obese and view cars as simply transportation.:(

Until it breaks. It seems like BMW simply ups the price on anything with an M badge by about 50% for no good reason.

135i FTW, 300HP and is kinda sorta reliable.

Sister has a 135i. It's fun but not her long term car plan at all.

    My sarcasm sense is tingling.

FWIW, our old 1989 Benz 300 SDL was a bitch to work on, and every repair was 2k+.
