A buddy of mine has a semi repair shop, and I do his IT work, so every so often I wheel up to his garage and change mine.

Slide the floor jack under, up she goes. Semy jacks are really high, so I crak it like two feet in the air and slide under on a creeper, really easy to change everything.

Like y'all, the filter location on the 2.7 pisses me off. Had my share of synthetic 5w-30 baths from figuring out how to finagle that damnable thing.

Also a big fan of the magnetic plugs here!

(Subby, I can't see from in the reply window...is your Taco new or new to you? Consider the synthetic oil and good filters)

Do the oil changes yourself. After reading the threads here of other's first oil changes the fact that you didn't drain red fluid means alot... you did good grasshopper!! Just keep an eye out for the first few miles... if it's not leaking you should be good to go. If your that concerned about it just drain the oil, remove one washer/ reinstall drain bolt, and add the oil back in... might take a total of 10 minutes.

I ended up doing that yesterday, just for my own piece of mind.

The oil I picked was castrol gtx synthetic blend, 5w-30.
My dad swears by castrol gtx, so I figured I would give it a try.

    Good stuff.

I've had good results with the Mobil 1, so I use that. It was recommended to me by the previously mentioned mechanic buddy.

That said, if I didn't use the Mobil, his #2 choice is the Castrol :)

There was a write up where someone did all the measuring and cut down the valve to be flush with inside of pan so he could get all the old oil out
