Just got these installed today... what a great mod! Everything was beautifully packaged and well thought out. As others have said... it's only worth it to DIY if you simply like to tinker. If you want the end result of having bed lights this is probably the best way to go so you don't have to screw around with it. I'm fairly mechanically inclined (have 3 engineering degrees) and thought this was well worth it. mattgecko takes the time to make sure all of the details are done, even as far as bending the connector enough to clear the power post under the fuse box in the front.

I have 2 suggestions to add to the write up:

    1. Take the truck to a car wash and get the under carriage cleaned a day or two before doing this mod. I got totally covered in dirt and mud while running the power wire this morning

    2. If you mount the switch in the new suggested location (to the aft side of the 110V outlet) you need to modify the bed to clear the switch housing. I notched mine in about 30 seconds with a Sawzall.

Another obvious thing is to let the truck cool fully before working on it. You'll be close to the exhaust for the majority of the time while running the power wire.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
have you had any issues with the led peeling (loosing stickiness) and falling off? i did the same thing on my truck and thought it was an awesome idea (but i used 4 kits 2 from walmart and 2 from autozone) and they did not stick wel.. pluss it was too many wires... i am interested in your kit it looks cleaner and i miss the light!

    Great Job!

The prototype bed light set is on my truck and still stuck with no problem. I use the adhesive zip tie squares / zip ties to keep the wire harness from pulling the light strips off.

My hood lights, which initially I was a little concerned about do to all the heat, they sit close to the supercharger and it gets extremely hot under there after a full day of wheeling. Still stuck and working perfectly.

thanks for the quick reply! and now that you mention the wire deal, the boucing wieght of the wire (a few inches) very well may have been my problem.

either way i like your kit better because its not pieced together with 20" stips like mine :) when i have some play money i will most likely be shooting you a PM (ive never bought from a forum so first for everything :)

I don't see where he offers a "hood" kit. Is that something special that you have to contact him about?

For the time being, I am no longer making the hood kits do to it being so time consuming feeding the wires into 3 feet harness. Sorry

I don't know if you're interested in making another product or if there's much of a demand for it but I modified my tail light harness to use dual filament bulb holders and switchbacks in the turn signals to compliment my factory reverse lights. 4 white rear facing lights instead of two. Not cheap since you use two harnesses to make one. If nothing else can you take a look at it on my build page and see if there's anything I could do to make it better before I make my second one? Thanks

What is the price on a hood kit? What would total be for a short bed kit and a hood kit?
