And here is a final pic of a finished project of the locker in use. Works awesome.

Are you running 4.56 gears in the diffs? How do you find highway travel with the 33s? I have a 6 speed as well and am looking at a regear when I throw the lockers in.

I find the Rpms to be a little high, I stopped caring about mpg when I got a lift. At 65 I'm at 3000 rpm on 33" rubber

100% incredible effort! im glad i found this but i have a few questions..

you said grinding and tig welding was not necessary? it looks to me that it was for proper fit and clearance. can you explain that a bit more? id like to eventually get all this done but have very little faith in my welding ability when it comes to my truck (and dont have a tig)

have you had any issues with it in the last 6 months since you last posted? id really prefer to have an e-locker up front.. and i thought i read the FJ at one point had a front e-locker and it also sounds like 05+ tacomas have the same diff up front. in your research did you find either of those to be true?

and for anyone interested, can you lump together all the part numbers you had used to accomplish this? i dont need it or want a front locker yet, but im on the other side of the planet just doing a little wishful thinking/prelim research.

thanks! and really, way to stick with it

Ive had no issues as of yet, ad per the welding id suggest contacting chase at ecgs as i didnt do the diff work myself.
As per the front diff elocker in fj's in my research that is bogus there was no elocker in fj's from factory. If someone has proof to prove me wrong please link. The tacoma has the same diff as fj, 05+ hilux, lc parado 120/150. As per part # for a carrier on what locker to go with it really depends on your gears. Because nitro 4.56 gears are extra thick needed a 3.73 carrier vs what would think..... Read this thread head to toe this was my infobank for myself. All my info i had is here vs my direct contact with zuk. But if any questions on install contact chase at ecgs.

I called TJM USA a couple of weeks ago and they said they will have front Pro locker for 2nd gens soon but no ETA. They said it will have something very unique for the actuator. They also said this is their top priority for new lockers because ARB basically has no competition and this locker would fit a range of vehicles. Tacoma, FJ cruiser, 4Runner, Prado, and Hilux. Summit has a awesome price on the Tacoma 8.4 rear right now $777.

Any update on this? Time frame when they will have it? I dearly need a re gear, and want to e locker the front. Sent an email off to ECGS to see if they have done any more since, waiting on a response.

All still good over the last couple years? I greatly appreciate your pioneering this, as this is the route I want to go!

Well, I'm going to end up being a guinea pig for this as well. I'm installing one of these Harrop Elockers in the front diff of my 99. It's enroute to East Coast Gear Supply as we speak. They are interested to see how it goes, they said they have done a few 8" clamshells but have not done a 7.5" clamshell before.

I did end up getting one installed in my 1st gen. It's working great! They just designed one for the 8.4" rear too. I plan to get one when funds allow
