Bret, nice signature picture! I'm smiling because your truck offroad in that much snow proves to me how capable the Tacoma is in stock form.

IMHO, a truck isnt a truck to me without 4x4. I like to use 4x4 as often as possible. Part of my lifestyle tho.

2wd trd xtra cab pre runner here with 3.4 v6, 117,000km. Bought new in 2003 at stampede Toyota in Calgary. There may not be many of them in canada, but they do exist..and worth their weight in gold it appears (mine appraised at 13,000 2 days ago) I paid 8500 for it from 2nd owner last June.

Bought a 2004 xtracab last may.works great with160000kms,burns no oil at all with the 2.4...I usually drove 4 x 4 for years, but I come across this little lady driven truck lol for a decent buy so I thought I'd try a gas mixer for a change...smaller box from what I'm used to so I'm gearin up a trailer if I need it..so far I love it..pleasure to drive and great on gas. I added a little weight on snowy days and did just fine lol

In newfoundland a truck is mostly useless without 4x4. If I were to venture a guess I would bet that 95% of all trucks on the road here are 4x4.

They sold first gen pre runners in Canada. Probably the lack of sales is why they stopped selling them.

In Canada, sure there is a reason to have 4wd, they get ALOT of snow. Saying there is no point for a truck without 4wd in other places that don't have much snow is pretty ridiculous, but what do I know. There are plenty of reasons to have a TRUCK, regardless of whether it has 4wd or not, that's common sense. I have not been stuck ONCE in the snow that I have driven in with a PreRunner. To each his own, if you need that security blanket for a few extra grand then by all means you should have it. With that said, I do plan to get a 4wd one day but not because I feel more manly in it.
