At least for Memorial day, Home Depot had a "Military Day" in which they gave a 10% discount to ALL present and past military members. All that I had to do is provide proof that I was enlisted at some point in time, either by DD-214 or old military ID.

THIS WORKED FOR ME, AND I'VE BEEN OUT OF THE ARMY FOR 2 YEARS.

I'm pretty sure for active military that do this for a couple day to a week around the holidays.

Does Lowes do this for people that don't have a "active" military ID? I've been out of the service for about 2 years.

Agreed, LOWES offers this everyday with a military id. One of the reasons I stopped shopping at HD. I get my 10% off at Lowes whenever I need something.

They don't look at the expiration just look at the ID and say ok.

I just sent an email to Home Depot's customer service via Home Depot.com asking them why they don't support a military discount year round.

The discount is given to active, retired etc. Just have to have an ID Card or DD214

Let us know how that turns out please? I have never been asked to view my id card up close while at lowes. They see it in my wallet and immediately take off 10%. Im sure some stores or individual cashiers my be different.

Besides, Jimmy Johnson is a better driver than Joey Logano anyway.

Here at Lowes, we get 10% everyday. May want to check out your local Lowes as well.

And I guess just to throw it out there, I got a job interview at Lowes in the morning.

Will do on that. good thing for me that Lowe's is close to my house. Most of the time at Lowe's they see my USAA debit card and associate it with being in the military. Sometime though, I have to go to Home Depot, because Lowe's doesn't have what I need.

I think either Home Depot or Lowes should give more than 10% for military service because you can get all the 10% coupons you want at your local post office with a "Movers" packet. It has leaflets of coupons including Lowes for 10% off which HD kindly accepts too. Typically they have these packets in the lobby or near the front counter.

FYI - Over the weekend I brought old my military to my local HD, and it worked. I've been out for 2 years, and it was expired but still worked.

Just for the record Home Depot does honor the 10% Discount for all branches of the armed services, active or retired, no matter what day of the week it is. Only a valid military ID is required.
Someone at our home office in Atlanta made the decision not to advertise this. I don't know why.
You have my guarantee as a Manger at Home Depot that this is real.
If for some reason you go into a store ask for this discount and it is not honored, please call: 1-800-553-3199
Also, kindly PM me & I'll personally speak with that stores manager!
    Thank you!

The Home Depot gives 10% military discount everyday now, not just holidays. This was put into affect a few months ago. Only thing is, the customer has to ASK for it. But, I'm a cashier, and if I see someone in uniform or anything that looks like they are or were in the military, I tell them about it.
