    Hello all!! Not new to toyota's or Tocoma's The last toco I had was a 05. Just got a 13 the other day.I think I was a member of this forum back then not sure. The sound output isn't to my liking and would like to add a amp and some speakers for better and louder sound quallity. I got on Crutchfields web site recommended by a friend and saw a couple of plug and play items but I dont have much knowledge in this area. I would like to keep it as cheap as possible but I know this stuff isn't cheap. Any help would be great.

    You'll need a new head unit.
    The stock HU is detuned for the stock speakers.
    An amp will only make it sound like louder crap.

    You'll likely get better sound from replacing the head unit than from replacing the speakers. Take a look at this write-up that another member on TW did a while back. Its a FAQ on general car audio stuff and it may help you out as you plan out ways to add more power to your ray didio. ;)

    As for recommendations on what to buy... What's your budget? I know you said cheap, but cheap is relative. Are there any features are you looking for? There are lots of options out there so it could be overwhelming, but Crutchfield is a good place to start.

    Maybe I should just get used to being the minority in that if I'm going to upgrade something, I don't have any desire for it to be as cheap as possible. Economical is one thing, but man, I love my truck too much to put anything cheap on her. Only the best for Winifred.

    thanks for the reply I know when I say cheap.I'm gonna have to spend at least $1000 and as far as wants. I want to stay with the sterring wheel controls and the phone bluetooth ability and most important dont want to hack up any of the wiring. i have a original 71 c10 that i put a upgraded system in that looks old style and it rocks and is very clean.

    With an aftermarket head unit you can keep your steering wheel controls but will lose the Bluetooth controls on the steering wheel.

    AudioControl LC6i is factory signal processor and if helps you keep your stock HU but let's your free up and clean up the signal.

    Alpine KTP-445u is a 4 channel power pack amp to power the aftermarket speakers if you want it to sound better.

    is that amp a plug and play. or do you have to cut and splice a bunch of stuff? where is the best place to get that stuff?
