i installed billies at 1.75'' and i only got about 1'' of lift out of it. its at the correct setting. i dont have a winch or steel bumper or anything, ive seen other DCSB with the 1.75'' and it looks way higher then mine. anyone have a good explination on why i only got a 1'' lift?

maybe coils are more worn than others? Not sure.

    Any more details?

Do you still have your stock 09 coils? Are you positive they aren't set to .85? Did you install or a shop? Are you measuring hub to fender or top of tire to fender? If you got new tires too obviously that will change the top of tire to fender measurement so go from the hub. Etc.

I had a shop do it. I can see the billies are correct. I didn't get new tires. I measured hub to fender before and after in the same level location as well. The coils are stock.

What does that matter? If it says 1.75" then that's what it should be.

Means they are suitable for a lift up to 1.75 inches.

I bet if you put new coils (also assuming the shop actually set them at 1.75) it will yield more lift. Take some real close up pics of the collar and post them here.

Yeah but he should still be getting more than just 1" if his measurements are indeed correct. My guess is like what was said earlier, maybe your springs are just worn out. If the mechanics installed at the 1.75 notch that is.

I believe it is the amount you are pre-loading the spring which does equate to but not directly proportional to lift.

Ok really guys? Gas shocks arnt designed to lift. They are designed to dampen up and down movement. Any potential lift that a shock MAY give is a result of service to a worn out/damaged part.

Side note you cannot compare two vehicles ride height because several factors go into actual height. If u could it would be safe to say that my vehicle should have the same amount of lift than the next guy who has the same stuff even though I have 2000# of mulch I carry around 3 x a week on fire access roads vs a someone else who drives on flat roads and no load.

For more lift, get a longer spring for your billy's.
Keep the same spring weight about 590lbs
if you going with a aftermarket bumper or winch use 660 lbs or so.

Perhaps you have no mods. Regular gas shocks provide no lift, correct. But 5100s do. Not in the most optimal way, they're a poor man's fix to doing it right. But there are hundreds if not thousands of people on here who lifted their truck with them. They're adjustable height front shocks.
