Ouch!! Scratched Dash

While installing the Sirius upgrade to the factory JBL radio I scratched the dash just under the A/C temp controller. Anyone have a fix for this screw-up?

 

Sorry Tony,no solutions here,but my wife took a hunk out of my dash visor right above the speedo cluster with her ring.......

You think in this modern day and age there would be a fix. I was thinking of matching the color with paint then touch it up with a Q-tip but worried it might look worse. Truck only has 160 miles on it

 

If there is an issue that I am not totally pleased with the Tacoma is the interior's "scratchability". I miss the old softer materials.

I know this does not help, but the day I brought mine home from the dealer, my girlfriend was looking inside and spilled a whole glass of Cabernet all over the passenger seat and in the carpet. Most of it came up because I purchased one of those "sales pitch" protection treatments. I could still see a slight stain on the seats so I decided to replace the seats and in the process, scratched the passenger door on the inside.

 

They do scratch pretty easily don't they? Looks like something we will just ALL have to live with.

 

Now this is a great example of "Cause and Effect". Can I use it for my class?

Maybe we should invent a dash kit for idiots lik me and we all become rich, seems there are a lot of "dash scratachers"

I thought Concrete Jedi would like this idea, we both deal in concrete dosen't scratch that easy.

Depends on how bad your scratch is, and I take no responsibility for damages, but I scratched up mine removing the A/C controller. Get one of those long handled lighters that you can control the flame on, and put it on the lower - to middle lower setting. Run it over the scratched area slowly enough to heat up the plastic, but not to melt it into oblivion. This will help decrease the size. Then buff over it with a cotton rag/shirt to get rid of the "shiny" haze. Worked great on mine! Doesn't totally get rid of the scratch, but made mine virtually unnoticeable. Of course it depends on the size/depth of the scratch how much of an effect this will have.

 

Dutch, I hope she washed your rig a few 100 times after that screw up. And a glass of cab of all things. I mean maybe if it was a pint of logger we could understand.

I know this is my first post but man I can't believe how easily the interior scratches up. Oh well. Just purchased a new taco a few months back. Been lurking for a while. Favorite mod I've seen on the forum funny enough is the 4X4 illumination. Why doesn't that thing light up? Thanks for all the hope!

History as of today! Now I can get back to work on my truck! Does anyone else have this same problem? Where your truck and significant other are rivals? Ironically, it was over a 44 yard pour in my back yard...I am building a garage.

 

Wow ! I was kind of just poking around I hope the scratch wasn't THE reason, and I hope it all shakes out well for both of you. 44 yds huh, nice size pour, what are they charging you for a yd3 ?

 

Naaaah. It was a while in the making. No regrets though.

Concrete was $102.00 per cube and that is on a Saturday. This guy has those mobile batch trucks where he mixes it right there. He is bonded and had to pour cylinders for the inspector.

 

That's good, I did not want to be a guy who planted the seed. That's where we are here in Rochester, Saturday might be a little more, mostly home owners with smaller pours so we wack them with charges to make it worth our while to open on a Sat.
