    3 is correct. The way you wrote the problem in post does not read the same as the pic. Solve the top line (18), then the bottom (6). Then divide 18/6, reaching the answer of 3.

    Parentheses are your friend in math. Assuming you get to use a calculator, learn how to properly place them for the calculator to solve and it will do virtually any problem you could ever encounter.

    12 is correct for the second one. To say that in computer terms, it would be (root9 + 9/2) / (3(10-6)-2^2-1). Surround the top and bottom lines with parenthesis.
