Wet Okole or Katzkin Leather better for dog?

Ok, I've been waiting with my finger on the trigger for the Wet Okole GB, but have been tempted by the Katzkin leather seats. My main concern is how they hold up to dogs in the cab.

I had Toyota neoprene covers in my 02 Tacoma and they worked great. The stock fabric looked brand new when I traded it in. My only gripe was the dog hair that 'pierced' the neoprene, effectively making it a PITA to remove even with a powerful vac. I had to hand pick out the stubborn ones. Anyone have Wet Okoles and coarse dog hair? Does the hair embed itself?

I have never had leather before but I love the idea of just wiping them clean and not hand picking the hair out. Are dogs hard on leather? Do I have to worry about Daisy Mae's nails scratching up the leather? I can see them wearing out in a few years and not looking so hot. Do leather treatments help the seats stand up to dog abuse?

I would say just get the covers you want and use towels or something to cover when you have your dogs. That way you'll have the seat covers you like and the towels protect it while also catching a good amount of hair. I imagine it's also quite comfortable for your dogs.
I have Wet Okole seat covers and I personally think they're way over priced.

I have Wet Okoles and I love them. My dog sheds a ton, and it doesn't stick to the neoprene. I throw a large blanket over the back seats of my AC to keep more of it off.

I'm not a leather guy -- I think it's too sticky in the summer. With a dog, I'd be concerned about it getting ripped with a toenail or something, too.

What breed is your dog? Speaking from personal experience, both sides have their advantages and disadvantages. If the dog has a tendency to shed, you may have issues with hair sticking to the Wet Okoles, though they don't stick to them as much as the stock fabric. On the other side, if your dog is a larger breed, you MIGHT have issues with the nails scuffing the leather seats over time.

I am currently running the towel cover mod... works fairly well except for them sliding around or when its wet out.

I agree Wet Okoles are big $$, but leather is BIG $$ (for seat covers anyway). Leather would eat my lift/mod budget for awhile.... but its a really clean look and rather functional, too.

Daisy is a bit of a mutt, lab and hound are what the pound said. Mid 50 pound range, but her feet and nails are more like those of a 100 pounder... hair is not easy to remove from under the mesh part of TRD seats and I'm starting to see more fraying of the mesh and edges :( But she always comes with. Our motto is 'Daisy Rides' :)

I too have Wet Okoles and like them, but if I could do it over again probably would have gone for leather. Plus I too think Wet Okole are way overpriced.
I just ordered a replacement bottom as my drivers side had worn through after about 5 years and 60k miles. I'm not overly upset about, just surprised that the colored layer would wear through.
My wife has leather on her car. She doesn't take care of the seats at all, but they look great after 5 years.
We have a small dog, and he hasn't damaged either, but I think if you are worried about your damaging leather, then he will also damage the wet Okoles. To me it would be easier for a large dog to poke a hole in the WetOkoles then leather.

I also think the KatSkinz look fantastic, much nicer then the Wet Okoles.

Anyways, just my 2 cents worth.

I can relate on the hair being a pain in the butt to remove from the mesh of the seat. I have a Mini Schnauzer so no problems there, but I occasionally haul my sister's Great Dane around and that dog's hair is so hard to get out, plus her nails snag the mesh. I really like the leather seats, but can't bring myself to pay close to $1000 then have to install them. If ya want my pick, I say go for Wet Okole. Very affordable, repels water and stains well, hair doesn't stick to it as much, and you can shampoo/wash it very easily.

Tweezers work best, but man, is it tedious. I only go that route every couple of months.
Price is my biggest obstacle to leather, thanks for your input!

I doubt that you will be satisfied with leather or neoprene with the dog. I would look for heavy duty vinyl. If the dog is confined to the back seat, you could get a slip-on cover for the rear bench. Any shop that does boat upholstery can make a very sturdy cover that will repel hair and withstand nail gouging. If the dog has its own seat cover, you can put whatever makes you happy on the people seats.

I want to try cordura. Tough as nails and hair shouldn't stick.

Shew, that has to be tedious for sure. I just throw Harbor Freight moving blankets in the back seat now lol

I just priced out Cordura from Marathon seat covers. $545 shipped including all headrests, map pockets, and console cover. Hmmm....

Wow for what cab configuration? I think cordura + scotchguard might be a winning combo for pets.

Double Cab Trd seats front and rear in Smoke color. I am being swayed. If you like camo and/or tan, check their Super Deals section

I had Precisionfit seatcovers in my 09 regular cab which I recently traded on a 09 ac. They were called camo conceal and felt like a canvas type material. My dog is a heavy shedder and he usually gets soaking wet when we go hiking. I would just wait until the cover dried out and vacuum it. No hair would stick to that material once it dried. Every once in a while I would wash his side of the seat cover with soapy water. When I traded in the truck the seats were like new. I was amazed that no moisture got through those seat covers all the times they were wet and muddy. What ever the material is it is tough like canvas and waterproof. I like the look of the wet okole but they aren't the best for wet shedding dogs. I got same covers for my ac sport buckets and a waterproof bench seat style cover for the back from sportsmen's guide for $17.

My dog is only 36 pounds, but she's made tons of tiny scratches in the leather of my Camry backseat. You see them more when they get dirty than when clean, but they are there. If you want the dog to be able to enjoy the ride and not worry about the seats, cover that leather up.
