That's the lift I just did. My truck sits pretty level right now. Stock truck is higher in the front from factory by about and inch

I'm running Maxtracs up front and All Pro Expo pack in the rear. I hear the standard pack doesn't quite bring you level. Even with 400 lbs of weight in the bed, I'm about level with the front, and the truck rides sm

I have Maxtrac up front with 5100s set at 0 and stock coils. AP Expos in the rear with extended 5100s. Truck rides just a little stiffer than stock with less body roll in turns. To me, the ride is really good. I still have the same amount of rake as stock, which is what I wanted and it hugs turns nicely

3* shims and cb drop took care of the vibes, but i still need about a 1" drive shaft spacer.

A little stiffer? Have you gone over any bumps yet lol? Those expos are SUPER stiff without any weight on them. 'Bout gave my wife whiplash because i wasn't paying attention and went over a speed bump a little fast.

I literally have a box of rocks and dirt back there to soften them up, till I can get proper weight on them (IE shell, recover gear, spares)

That right there just swayed me away from the Expos. Problem is while I dont normallu have anything in the back other than a toolbox, I tow a 21' wake boat and a motorcycle or two on occasion and I need something that won't sag.

^That's fine. All-pro specifically states that "On unloaded Tacomas, they will result in a 1" taller stance than the stated lift height of 3". The stated lift height is maintained with loads of 400-500 lbs of cargo."

Which, is kinda BS, even fully loaded I'm level with my front end (Maxtrac Spindles) and unloaded I'm pulling easily 4 1/2" if not 5". That being said, about 300-400 lbs is a good sweet spot for me. haven't really tried specifically throwing in anything else. The other day at a concert I was super overloaded, but we're talking 3 passengers, 2 fully loaded big coolers, assorted tailgating equipment; so easily 1000 lbs and I had to set my compression on my shocks to 8 to keep from bottoming out on every bump. After that the ride was pretty smooth.

So this might sound dumb, and no offense, but did most/all of you guys buy the Maxtrac's because you live in the desert? Or for 4" of lift? Or both? I too drive a PreRunner DCSB, but I have no sand :(

That's great feedback, thanks. The two leaf packs I have been considering are the Dakars and Expos, so we'll see.

I've ran both our springs, first our standards on my '05 and now our EX springs on my '08. In the front I'm running our LT kit at about 4" of lift. With the EX springs I'm sitting level with our Pack Rack, a PowerTank, Small Tool Bag, and 35" Spare, all adding about 300-lbs or so total.

I also tow a 25' boat occasionally and haul my 2 boys' dirt bikes. The EX springs do handle it better, however, our standard springs have just under a 200 lb/in spring rate, so they will handle a few hundred lbs as well, just sitting lower until the weight is removed. The key is to not let any spring go into a negative arch which can permanently damage them. A properly set-up bumpstop will prevent this, and one like Timbren can actually act as a helper spring and handle added weight.

One last thing... our EX springs, though firmer than our standards, will ride better than the OME Dakars due to not having a flat overload leaf to bottom out on. I too was skeptical at first since it is my daily driver, but I was pleasantly surprised that the engineers at our spring manufacturer were able to retain the ride quality while providing a higher spring rate. Of course, a properly valved, application specific shock doesn't hurt either.

...I hope that helps, but please let us know if you have any more questions or concerns about any of our products.

    Thanks!

    Sarah

uhhh... yeah, i've gone over speed bumps. Going over a speed bump at just the right speed in ANY car/truck can be harsh. Shoot, I can give myself whiplash if I were to hit a speed bump just right in my Corolla! lol

Unloaded, the AP Expos really aren't that bad to me when cruising at highway speeds or "around-town" driving. Obviously, when the truck is loaded with weight is when the leaf pack shines. With a bunch of camping gear and a tow hitch bike rack with two MT bikes, the ride does soften up, but my truck still maintains a slight rake. As my daily driver though, it's typically unloaded except for some bed racks and a cargo box. My wife's only complaint is having to climb into the truck when she's wearing a dress :D

    Sarah,

Was wondering, how tall are those Timbrens?

Overloads come into play when the bed of the truck is simply that, loaded with a bunch of weight. Aside from this the overload on the OME packs don't really influence the ride at all and I'm sure there are many on here that would agree.

Dakars are a two stage designed leaf pack, they flex real nice through the use of the first five leafs (not too layered so still plenty of flex) and than support a loaded bed with the use of the overloads, a good option for those planning to tow on occasion.

Saying one leaf rides better then another is really a matter of opinion. All three packs are a great choice, but I think for the purpose of versatility one stands apart. It will be real interesting to see what SDHQ's pack end up being like. Looks as if they went with a design similar to that of the Dakars.

So I'm sure this has been answered but I don't wanna read 130 pages. I am going full MT very soon. Plan is ICON 2.5 front resi and 2.0 rear resi and icon uppers. I want 0 preload on my coils so my plan was to go with a Maxtrac spindle up front. That will provide 4" up front which means I'll need at least 2" in the rear to be level. DO NOT want a bro lean! So the rear leafs I was gonna go with OME Dakars. My question is that those supply 2.75" in the rear according to ARB. If I remove the overload, what will the lift be in rear?? I'm afraid that removing the overload in the Dakars will bring it closet to 2" and then my front end will be too high with the spindles. Suggestions?? Thanks!

But the front is almost 2" lower when stock. So a maxtrac is 4" in front right. So then wouldn't a 4" leaf pack still have you a rake?
