Thats funny, but could be un-true as of today, I have a 2013 buyer that is telling me that it works, so I am asking for pics. I have been told that the 2013 may actually work, stay tuned!!

I used the brown solder-less connector already on the switch. Drill the two inner holes with 1/16" bit. I threaded the wire through switch hole per instructions approximately 2", then I stripped about 3/4" and threaded them through the brown connector. I wound the wire around the connector as shown. Use a small screwdriver to press into the vertical grooves. Trimming and then installing the connector ensuring the correct polarity per instructions. Its tight but use a proper fitting flat blade and it will snap in place.

Probably take the same time but with no solder!!

 

Looks good, there are are a few guys on here that have done that. I may have to steal your pics, and add them to my procedure.

I have more in my photo album if you like. I also did a "no cut/splice" power install that I felt wouldn't be up to some peoples standards, but pics are there also. It is very simple & straight forward and actually very secure. I can do a little write up if it might help some of those leary of cutting or using splice connectors.

I normally would have soldered and shrinkwrapped the splice but it was hot and I saw this avenue and took it.

Sorry , I should have been more clear . I went into your gallery and checked out your no solder power splice idea . I think I have it figured out though , you took the power wires through a blank in the plug and inserted them into the correct pins on the back side , correct ?

Does the wire being in there cause any issue with re-seating the plug ?

 

Ok - yes that is correct, I used the empty slot closest to the required power pins. I stripped about 1/4" off the ends, inserting into the correct holes and made sure the insulating was just flush with the surface - pulling the slack back up through connector.









Because the pins are actually 'blades', it provides a very snug fit. The wires will prevent the locking feature of plug, but trust me you will not need it. The first time I tested it I pushed it in hard and was a struggle to pull apart. No damage to the pins or wires and works excellent.

Although I normally would solder my connections, this is a viable substitute. The entire install could theoretically be done with a good pocket knife or gerber tool.

I was curious and looked at the connector behind the AC panel today and mine has a blade that goes through the spare you used as a chase , didn't seem like there would be enough room to fit the wires through there , does yours not have a blade that goes into that hole ?

 

Oz, there is a blade, I checked several times to see if the wires were getting any damage. I tried to make sure that the wires were somewhat split so the blade goes between them. Seems to be fine, I can check in a few weeks to verify. But, I don't think there shouldn't be any issue if the wires are solid/snug with no movement then there won't be any chaffing.

Are you thinking of doing this also?

You probably answered this somewhere in this thread but I'm too lazy to read all 105 posts! Will the LEDs dim with the dash dimmer switch? Aren they as bright as stock swt illumination such as the heater controls?
