Anyone know a good company that does a good hid conversion without requiring core trade or waiting 6 months? Just want to purchase straight up.

    Thanks

nope...maybe for the 2005-2011..but from what I can tell, us 2012-13 guys are not able to do that...

I want a set from Burt, but I cant even tell if hes actually still doing them, or not...and I wish the wait wasn't 6 months...

What the hell do you want lazers? Daylight at night?

I have owned a lot of vehicles over the years and my Taco has the best head lights of any of them.

What specifically is your problem with them?

    HID's are illegal bytheway.

    Build thread coming soon!
Maybe they just need aimed? Mine were pointed at outer space when I took delivery (thanks, final qc check Texas plant!)
After I fixed them, they're awesome. Lots of vision in the ditches, lots of range on the road

In some states it's illegal to have HIDs when not originally equipped with HIDs from manufacturer.

The US has some weird laws for vehicles man.. Like it seems like you basically need to keep your vehicles stock to be legal in Cali.

Vehicles that have HID's from the factory have a different headlight reflector design than the same model car that has halogen lights. Most vehicles with HID's from the factory also have provisions to level the headlights as you drive. HID kits in headlights designed for halogen bulbs (like those in our Tacomas) are HIGHLY illegal. It wasn't long ago that such kits were illegal to even import into the US. But there's always loopholes with customs and now they are all over the place again. Sure you can see great with an HID kit in your truck. But you're blinding everyone else. Personally I think the second gen Tacomas have fantastic headlights. But I haven't driven one with the facelifted headlights. Maybe they suck.

Might want to ensure that they are aimed right, and if so, try some better bulbs (non-HID) first. See if you really want to go to the time/expense of a retro.

Get new bulbs. But as stated before, avoid putting hiss in the factory housing. Hurts my eyeballs.

My head lights when new sucked unless you wanted to look in the second story windows of houses. Adjust them first then decide if you really want to empty your pockets. Before I spent big bucks on HID's I would try some H4's with higher wattage. Deer/moose are a big problem in the willy wages of Maine I'm using 100/80 watt H4's makes the stocks lights look yellow.

I don't like the Taco's lights either. The light gets diffused way too much and lost to areas you don't need. I switched to the brighter burning bulbs (e.g. SilverStar Ultra, XtraVision) and found them to compensate well. There is a price to pay. The brighter the bulb the shorter its life. If you get the 'brightest', you can expect to replace them every year or so at $35 a pair, depending on how much you run your lights. And the brightest may be a bit too bright cuz with them I get a few 'flashes' from on-coming drivers. The mid-grade bulbs are a good compromise. If your Taco's clear plastic is getting fogging, try one of those renew kits. That really help with some of my older vehicles. FYI - I just read an article that said you should change your 'normal' headlamp bulbs every two years as they lose up to 50% of their intensity by then.

I got the brightest bulbs I could find. They've lasted way over a year. $35 each. Aiming has a lot to do with it as well. I get blinded by all the new tundra lights. So annoying

My '13s headlights are amazing...stock. I feel like I can see a good distance in front of me. The light isn't diffused, it has quite the defined line down the road. I can also see plenty of roadside on both sides of the vehicle.

With the highbeams on...oh man. Hope nobody ever makes the mistake of flashing me when they're not already on.

    Can ya spell Tonneau
    2nd for aiming them right.

I have heard that the aftermarket "projector" lensed lights put out less than OEM. They look cool but lenses steal LUMS and require serious engineering to do right. Hard to design that in for $200
