I hate to say it, but it sounds to me like his oil pump took a dump.

    Welcome!

Lots of things you can do for cheap. There is a Free/Cheap mods thread here somewhere.

Not much we can do unless you know what you want to do. I can help with product recommendations, but you'll have to throw some ideas at me.

I know Justin and Brian have done many little mods along with big ones. They could likely give you some pointers, too.

    Welcome man!

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
I did pretty much every little mod there is to do on the 2nd gens haha. My favorite had to be the lock/unlock chirp though. Silly I know, but super useful.

hmm. I just talked to him and he said the mechanic thinks the head is blown and that there wasn't a bit of fluid in it. Still sounds like coolant went somewhere, thus causing the overheating.

I know a bad oil pump could lead to overheating, but what would explain an empty radiator?

Head gasket leak can blow out all of the coolant, crack in head or block, leaking water pump, etc.

Do it right the first time and get an ARB air locker installed in the front.

Yeah, DO NOT do a non-selectable locker in the front. Steering suuuuuucks when it's locked, and you can't unlock just by pressing a button.

Oh yes. Reserved it yesterday. I renew this month. Too good not to do on a 6" lifted truck on 37" mud tires.

I have no problems with my auto-locker up front. yes turn radius is a little worse, but only when I'm trying to turn around on trails, which for the value, is totally worth it. Not to mention they don't put as much stress on your shafts as a full carrier locker. And being that I have a d30 up front, I'm fine with that.

now with that aside, I would definitely go selectable up front on something that would be a DD haha.

Selectable hubs would still be my preference though.

As long as the trail surface isn't grippy, totally agree. In the rocks, "gold truck drives you" according to the previous owner. He bent the shit out of a control arm because he couldn't fight the wheel. We'll see this weekend :D

Then again, 37's are a little more meat to move around than 33's too. May not be as much of an issue on smaller tires with a more powerful PS system.
