I own a 99 Tacoma and I want to mount a winch to the front. I was interested in the all pro and the addicted off road but when I called the muffler shop they said they don't like welding these bumpers on cuz they are a pain and then they are liable. so they suggested the shrockworks bumper because it is bolt on well that one is over double the price and takes 4 months in production. is the addicted offroad winch bumper sturdy? idk what would be the best one???? thanks

^x2 arb, I'm saving up for one. Also I'm pretty sure most bumpers are bolt on

Stay away from All-Pro ESPECIALLY if you plan to winch from your bumper. I'm not impressed with my second gen All-Pro bumper . All-Pro really dropped the ball when it came to how the bumper mounts to the truck.

Its got a few modifications now but it deffinatly isn't going anywhere and if you plan on winching goto a legit welding shop, not a muffler shop. They wont realize the stress that will be put on the bumper and crossmember that comes with the addicted bumper.. but ive had no issues since its been welded on correctly! it also leaves lots of room for modifications as you can tell.. I just cut the stinger Scotty sent and bent a new one with light hoops and also plated a few areas off and got it to tuck up to the truck with only 3.5" from grill to inside of winch plate.

In the corners when they are in the fenders (broken clips) lol but if you look close at the angled tube from the winch plate to the wrap around tube there are amber led strips there... kind of hard to see in these pics..

Keep in mind that he's asking about the 1st gen Tacoma bumper, which mounts completely different than the 05+. Also, all of our 2nd gen Tacoma bumpers now have these mounting brackets with added frame support:

If you'd had a problem with your All-Pro bumper, please PM or email us: tracy@allprooffroad.com for any warranty/customer service issues and we'll be glad to help.

I've only seen one Tacoma that has had a problem with the frame where the bumpers attach, but that was with another manufacturer's bumper where the winch line comes out at a downward angle, putting added stress on the frame. It also can be an issue on FJ Cruisers.

I will Totally stand behind my ALL PRO bumper, it mounts to the frame with 5 existing holes with stock hardware on each side. winch mount is great, there is room to play with, I did have to come up with a custom bracket to keep the contactor control box hidden under the bumper.

Op why do you want to weld it? Much easier to work with if you just bolt it on.

If you do not have heavier duty coils in the front I wouldn't go with ARB. They weigh a ton. I'm confused on why Jaso said the All Pro Was a Bad bumper? I think they make two styles for that year. A tube and a plate one so the options are not that limited. My buddy has a plate one and he loves it and has winched me out plenty with it and never had an issue with the mounting. I hit a deer last fall with my 2005 Apex Bumper and it held up great. I would just take weight and style into account when buying though. Good luck on your buy.
