just wondering what my options are , i just found out im going to be a dad, im freaking out about my payment a little .

How much could I get for a 2013 double cab LB TRD sport w / navi entune, 5100s in front, 1" lift in rear . 2500 miles on it .

I hear stories about people reselling their trucks to dealer ships, is this true or possible without buying another vehicle from them?

Some dealerships do buy vehicles. Look your truck up on KBB and other price guides to get an idea for what it's worth. You'll get more money privately selling than at a dealer. But it won't hurt to try every avenue.

I would sell personally. You could get almost new price and they don't get hit on taxes with you. Bill of sale could say 25k if you want. Dealers have so many incentives they get to sell trucks that they could sell brand new better than your lightly used one.
Congrats on a baby on the way!

What's your payment, and what kind of car will you get if you sell?

The tacoma makes a great family car...I would debate selling it if you're going to get something that will end up costing you more in the long run. If you're having trouble making the payments in a year, refinance it.

No idea on the sex of the baby yet it's to early .lol

I know ill loose out out the taxes and the little mods I've done . But I just can't do the payment once the baby arrives . Ill most Likely get something for 10k or under which is what I put down on the truck .

If I could get 32000 for the truck I'd be happy , this thing seriously is a garage queen very well taken care of . Little mods like BHLM, yellow fogs , black oem steps ( not in picture ) 5100's in front at 1.75 and 1" blocks in the rear really set it off nice .

I'd defiantly have no prob writing 25k on a bill of sale to save someone some $$ and save you some dealer fees .

They are ok as a family vehicle if the kids in the back aren't in car seats. I put my son's car seat in the back and my wife had to push her seat almost all the way forward. It was a little tight, but doable.

I vote for selling privately as well.

    Congrats on the kid!

I vote you budget well and keep the truck. No $10k or less vehicle will be as dependable for as long as that Tacoma. You will need to be doing repairs all along. If you baby that truck, and don't spend money modding it, you should be able to give it to your kid in 16 years...

If you're deadset on selling... Dealer will only give you low trade, and for private party, I would look at what local dealers have trucks similar to yours listed for and assume maybe $2500-$3000 less since you can't offer financing or anything other than the balance of factory warranty.

    My $.02
    Congrats on the new family.

I know girls are bringing a premium over boys these days. This would allow you to keep the Tacoma and continue to mod it.

I found that having a baby is really not all that expensive. Diapers and formula and baby food. That's the bulk of it. Our baby shower yielded us more toys and clothes than the little booger will ever really need. He's 11 months now and can wear most 2T sizes, so we were having to get new clothes pretty often for a few months, but it should slow dramatically in the second year. He got so many toys at the shower that for his first birthday we're just asking for donations to his college fund and books.

Congratulations! There's nothing cooler in this world than being a dad.

Thanks , I'm pretty excited To be a dad. The $ is a issue because my wife will be dropping her work hours down by about 75% so everything is going to be one , would be much easier without the truck payment .

I would guess you could get $30k for it selling it privately at the top end and $25k at the low end.

Wow, I wish I had a garage that roomy, and that clean. I would sell it privately, too. Look up the value on KBB, and look on all the car sites (cars.com, kbb.com, autotrader.com), to get an idea on where to price it.

What's your other vehicle? A RAV4? It might be a little tight with a rear-facing car seat, too. We were in a '92 Corolla (the car my wife had when we met) with our first one, and a year after number two came along, we had seriously outgrown it, so we sold the Corolla and bought our first Previa.

I bought a truck just like yours, barely used (6k miles) in November 2009. Same truck even, except DCSB vs your DCLB. I paid $27,500 for it. I know you want to get as much out of it as you can (and who can blame you), but honestly, if you're the more motivated person, which in this case it seems you are, you might have to price it accordingly. I would never give someone $32k for a truck I can buy new at that price or less.

Personally, I'd list it for $30k and hope to get $27-28k. I know these trucks hold value like crazy, which is great...but I've noticed around here that there are more than a couple FS threads where guys ask prices that are (in my opinion) high, and the trucks end up sitting for 2-3 months (or longer) for sale, and eventually the price gets knocked down to a more reasonable level. You may not have the time to wait like they do.

This is what I was getting at asking those questions earlier.

And a $10k vehicle will have higher mileage, meaning it will need to be replaced sooner. Also, won't be nearly as safe...
