that is the perfect bike to start, and to get good at. way more fun than big bikes in twistys. not to mention the crazy good mpg 250s get.

I'm having some crazy thoughts tonight. Maybe it's the beer but I'm really tempted to jack my brother in laws LT set up. He has to sell his tacoma and I really want to replace my lift for his LT SAW lift. Only thing is his whole set up needs to be rebuilt. Might cost a bit but I could get the set up for the cost of the rebuild. I would need to source some stock fenders for his truck as well. Just not sure it's worth my time or if he/his mom would be into it. Thoughts?

I'm 15-20 miles from the Rim Fire, heavy smoke this morning was like a thick fog but cleared up later in the day. Just hope the thing doesn't triple in size again tonight.

Anybody planning to go to the Good Guys car show in Pleasanton this weekend? Its been a few years since I've gone...

The 250 will last you a year or two as a new rider. The slower throttle response isn't a bad thing. It's lighter weight s also a good thing.

When you say "first bike", do you mean you are learning to ride or that you're a returning rider? If you're just learning and have not taken the MSF class, it's a great way to learn. Takes a weekend and is well worth it.

Anyway, good luck with your decision!

My mustang will be at the show. My dad is taking it this year, since I'll be at the camping trip. Red '66 with white stripes. ford racing 302. just finished a serpentine belt setup and an electric fan. Last year I won the 'young guns.' Wish I could go to this one, but there is one every couple months.

Thats a pretty skilled pilot. He whipped right in there no problem into a solid stable hover. Most guys need to line up and slowly come in on the descent. +1 to that guy. Sucks to be the pool owners. "Sorry for your water bill, but nature called"

I just sold my 1000RR for mid 3k. the 250's are nice. but I wouldn't ever take them on the freeway. For me they are way underpowered and too "wascally wabbit" for me. I like the solid feel of a 600 or 1000cc bike. Most people are scared of getting a 600 or even a 1000 for their first bike, but it's all about throttle control. I rode a 600 for less than a year when I was 15 and living in Japan. I bought the 1000rr from a friend a year and a half ago and rode it fine. I took the MSF course and learned to respect the power the bike has, not to try and hot dog it around and be cautious of the throttle. after a couple months I go more and more comfortable with it and I was riding it fine no problem in any condition, on any road.

I'm about to list my FZ6R on Craigslist next week. It's a 600 but its a great starter bike because the throttle is basically set for a beginner. It was my first bike. It's a 2010 with just over 2000 miles. Let me know if your interested at all man.

Yeah that's mostly the reason I'm selling it. I just don't ride it enough to keep paying for maintenance and insurance.

yea thats why I sold mine. since I'm moving to Georgia, its not worth it to keep paying full insurance on a bike that I'm not riding. I was going to buy one when I got back... but I'm actually lookin at buying a 1st gen 4x4 reg cab to keep as a wheeling truck :]

    Learning to ride.
I plan to take a class. I need to hash out where I'm keeping it. Not much space in garage.
