Hi, everyone!!! It's been an interesting 5 days and still have a few to go. As Carl noted, I'll be meeting the President on Friday.

Our college was chosen to be the site of one of his policy speeches on making college affordable. Irrespective of political feelings, few colleges get to host a sitting president each year - and our college has never had a presidential visit. In an area with 16 colleges and universities to choose from, it is amazing for our little 2 year private open enrollment college to be selected.

It is a major boost for us and a recognition of our place in the community as the college that provides opportunities - affordable at that - for people who might not be able to have them otherwise.

We've been meeting with various people and entities since Saturday and jumping through a lot of hoops. My staff has really enjoyed the challenge and our students are excited. We'll probably be hosting almost 4000 people in our gymnasium - and both the President and VP will be there.

With everything it affords our college in publicity and recognition, it is an opportunity that no one in their right mind would pass up. I couldn't have asked for a better PR boost than we've had in the last week.

Watch for me on the evening news on Friday!

Hope it makes the weekend news programs as well.

The visit has to be exciting for you, your staff and the students. To me it is more about the office than the person. That being said I would not mind having a beer with Joe Biden.

Good luck, and like you stated, it's an opportunity that would have been foolish to pass up.

Watch the national news tomorrow night. His speech should wrap up in time for them to do a live report from our campus and mention our college.

    Nice article Mark.

It is so easy to be like a lot of other Americans and get on the hate bandwagon and loose focus of the office of the President and what it means. The article was a good read and you are quite photogenic, for one of us senior guys. ;)

Wishing you and your staff a successful day today.

    Back again!
Just got back from the birthday party. HE MADE IT!!:woot:
He has slipped a little since I saw him last time, and he's now in a personal care home, but he still is talking about going hunting this yr. He does have a permit to shoot from the car.
Ran into a bunch of people I haven't seen in some time. One of the guys I went to school with had his mom there. She's 91, also in a home, and didn't look like she was doing that great.
    OHHHHH! The golden years!!!!!!

    Carl:
As my uncle got older he would hunt deer from a broken bus my cousins used as a camp cabin of sorts. This was in Elk County, PA.

My uncle was an avid hunter and his sons let him hunt as long as he could.

FWIW My uncle was also a navigator on B17's flying out of England during WW2. He was a favorite uncle of mine.
