No, there is no way removing that could set off a CEL. It honestly does nothing, and I'm not sure why Toyota put it there.

Yup, I still don't regret doing it, and would do it to a brand new taco tomorrow if I bought one :)

Think of it this way... You just spent $75 on a filter just so you don't have to replace it every 30k. Then that charcoal fuck clogs up and chokes all the extra "flow" you're supposed to get with that shiny new filter. Sounds like two buttfucks working against each other IMO...

I kinda want a snorkel. I would actually use it... :anonymous: I've had high water marks all the way up to my throttle body, just ask Billy from when we installed my IMS.

I've been so close to hydrolock way too many times, but I've read threads where someone hydrolocked, they unplugged the spark plug wires (coil packs) and cranked all the water out. I wouldn't want to have to do that, but if it saves the engine, you win!

Snorkels aren't really too much more than an expensive CAI, and they actually offer a benefit. Do it.

I mean, they do that also, but they were originally made to put the air intake up higher when traveling in extremely dusty areas. Obviously, water crossings is an added benefit.

Just remember to waterproof the rest of the truck. The snorkel is the easy part. Raise all your breathers, waterproof the starter and alternator, etc.

x2, cold air intakes are a waste of $$ in my opinion. If you're going to spend the money, at least get some added functionality! Especially for you, Alex, since you seem to like taking your truck swimming...

Billy, with regards to the charcoal filter removal, it actually showed pretty decent improvements in the 4-bangers. Removing it won't do anything, it just doesn't produce much of a result in the V6. That being said, mine's still there and isn't going anywhere. I also went from the high flow filters back to stock filters since the high flow ones weren't showing any improvements from my well-calibrated butt dyno and MPGs.

It has small plastic post that it slips over. The plastic looks as if it is melted to hold it in place. I am sure that if you wanted to you could lay it over the post again.

Not a bad price at all, I think I paid close to $50 for books I purchased for my bikes. Now that you have that book, I'd definitely recommend getting together a small list of parts that you would keep with you, on the bike, at all times. Personally, I keep a small stash of basic tools, a spare tail light bulb and a fuel filter. Obviously, longer trips I carry more but on a short run, if it gets beyond what I can fix with that setup, I'll call for a ride home and go back with a trailer to pick it up.

    x2!

So since my truck is stock, as far as intake, breathers etc... How high of a water line before there is trouble?
