Has been rear ended but no busted leaf. That sucks, though. At least you're OK (right?).

I've had a busted leaf before, but it wasn't from being rear ended. Just brought it to a spring shop and they replaced the one leaf.

I'd be more worried about what else happened back there. Snapped spring in conjunction with a rear end hit- Bent or torqued axle?? Frame??

It's not a big deal to replace one leaf in a pack- but the damage to the truck....Best of luck getting it all worked out!!

I've been rear-ended also, but only bumper/body damage.

Sounds like he had a pretty extreme hit.

I hope he got the name, number, and all the insurance informatoin of the guy who rear-ended him.

Mine was rear-ended and the leaf was bent up pretty bad but it didn't break.

That's how mine looked. I don't think it's actually broken, just bent down. I don't think that second leaf actually attaches. The top leaf rests on top of it. The dealer actually had to replace my whole rear axle. Total cost of the repair was over $8K.

Wow.... the last time I saw something like that was on my old Jeep and my frame was tweaked.

Not to scare you, but you might wanna check the frame.

My truck is at a dealer about 2 and 1/2 hours away from my house. The other guys insurance should pay for the whole thing but my agent told me that they might try and say it was another guys fault so we will see what happens. Till then i'm stuck drive a matrix it sucks!! lol

Insurance companies ALWAYS pass the buck. They can't blame someone that they don't have insurance information from - so chances are, they're gonna put blame (or partial blame) on you. The two insurance companies will fight it out and if they can't come to an agreement, it could go into arbitration.

    Good Luck!

Holy crap @ the busted leaf.

I hate all the crap you have to deal with with insurance companies... almost worse than the accident itself.

I had broken leaf springs only on my 96 Tacoma but not from an accident. The middle leaf just snapped in half right in the middle on both sides. Had to get a new set from a 3 leaf to a 4 leaf at $1,400. The truck was only 5 years old and I rarely carry anything heavy in the bed.
