Deer hunting BS thread

I haven't done much squirrel huntin. When I do go like once. Year I shoot like 4 but when I sit in the deer stand ill see 100 of em. What do you do?

 

really it’s fining a good place, also i usually walk around some find a tree or rock or something and just sit down for 10 min or so, then i may move. did not have good luck last year it was just to hot really till december or jan. i got some at a buddies place though. we are suppose to have an early fall, so it should be cooling down in 3 to 4 weeks they say. so maybe i’ll have a good year. also if it is cooler morning it’s usually a little better, and if there is a light drizzle/rain it can be good. that also helps hid your movement, when stepping on leaves. like deer you need to be quiet and move kinda slow.

 

Well deer season opened today and its doubtful ill hunt because of the thunderstorms this afternoon

 

Anybody hunt in the upstate of SC?

 

I made it in the stand around 6. A slight drizzle but not bad

we got a 5 or so point(not counting the one thats really low.) but it looks like it has 2 maybe 3 on one side and defiantly 3 on the other. also think we had a 4 point around the house.

 

Thats cool, this time of the year is crazy because your just watching all these different bucks wondering if a bigger one is gonna show up.

 

yeah. we only have 5 acres, and we don’t hunt on it, not really any good direction to shoot I think a bow would be ok. Also we like they around we put our salt and mineral blocks and others stuff for them to eat on all year. we have a kinda small crapy pound they drink out of as well, but there is 3 others not even a mile a way i know they drink out of as well.

 

Got my hit out on this big guy soon as the season opens. Been watching him since he first started growin this rack. The Archery season doesn't kick in till Sept 21st for doe here in PA and then Oct. 5th for buck. You guys out west are some lucky dogs.

 

Anyone seen this? It's "better than corn"! Lol.. Looks like a big dildo.

Can't decide on which one to take down or just let'em all walk and let'em get a little bigger next year.

 

How often do you refill the feeder? I need to make a couple of them. Looks like an inexpensive feeder.

I could refill the feeder everyday. It will hold approx. 30lbs of feed. We made 3 of them and IIRC the total cost was around $50. They hit it hard all year round. I counted 40 head of deer last week in the field where the feeder is. So it doesnt take long to empty a feeder with that many deer. I only fill it up about 3 to 4 times every other week depending on my work schedule. But its getting expensive the local feed store mixes there own deer feed its called "ultimate whitetail" and it's now up to $16 for 50lb bag.

 

Thats what I've been thinking I know that the 9 and 8 in the pic together are 3 1/2yrs old but I'm not sure about the other two they just showed up last year out of now where. But if these are all teenagers of the group I need to find ole grand pappy.

Me and hodge are headin up to the farm today. Looked at the cameras and tons of deer. I found 3 really nice bucks on them too
