Lowest vulnerable point is the rear differential. The breather for that is right on top of the diff which is why lots of people relocate it a bit higher. That's not real trouble though if you're careful. Any of the breathers, if you're careful, won't cause any trouble and shouldn't suck in water. Even if you completely submarine your rear diff, it shouldn't suck in water unless it's plunged straight into cold water when it's nice and hot. When you start going over that, you subject other parts to early failure such as your starter, pulleys, etc. Deeper water still can actually cause your fan blades to break when they hit the water and finally if you get in deep enough, hydrolock.

Also, if you get water up higher than the bottom of the cab, and water starts coming into the cab, even though the truck's intake is high enough so as not to cause engine damage, the truck's ECU is low on the floor, just something to keep in mind if you're trying to really waterproof your truck

I have an aftermarket headunit, so it may be slightly different if you have the stock Toyota one. But, on mine I have to set the radio to the setting I would use to stream Pandora to my headunit (Bluetooth rear input on my radio). I think it would be the same for you. So you can't listen to anything else besides streaming music off of your phone, and when it's time for the voice directions they will cut in and play through the speakers. Not sure if that helped at all, or made any sense.

I believe I've been in water up just above the bottom of the doors, weather seals seem to be doing their job.

The weather seals might do well but if you go too much higher, there are open holes in the cab that will let water in. Have you inspected your diff fluid since that water crossing? If it looks like a chocolate milk shake, time to change it out.

The other breathers are pretty high in the engine compartment and I believe the transmission breather is on top of the tranny so you have a ways to go before those submerge. If you do manage to submerge your other breathers, chances are the parts will be cooled by the time the breather goes under anyways so it's not as great of a concern. Search for the SCUBA mod, someone went through and showed how to relocate all the truck's breathers to a higher location.

I need to get around to swapping the fluids in the diffs and gearbox anyways. Maybe I'll gets the fluids and swap them after the next run. The only hole I can think of at the moment is where the shifter is.

The way mine works is I just open bluetooth on my phone and it pairs so any phone calls come thru speakers. The google maps wont give commands thru the speakers while it is on bluetooth or thru its own speaker on the phone. If I take it off bluetooth it will use the phone speaker. I haven't tried it while using Pandora cause I dont use that as much.

I think it has to be on whatever setting (if there is one) that you would normally stream internet radio/ music off of your phone to. The phone audio is a different "protocol" or some tech nonsense than the normal audio/ google maps voice, etc.. which is why it won't just play. My headunit is the same way, it automatically pairs, if a phone call comes through it will play through the speakers, but if it's not specifically on the "bluetooth" input, it wont play the google maps voice.

Which is annoying because if I am listening to XM, but have my phone paired so I can use hands free calling and am also using google maps to navigate there won't be any voice directions, similar to what you are talking about.

That is the exact issue. I will try in the am for my ride to work. If that is the case that sucks cause I bet you wont be able to listen to anything but google maps

If i'm streaming pandora, intune, or just music from my phone to the headunit it will play that as well, and google maps voice will play over the speakers. But ya, unless you are streaming music off your phone via bluetooth, you can't listen to anything else. It is lame. I did some research once on it, and it has to do with the communication protocols normal audio and the phone audio use.

So I think this depends on the phone and the head unit working together.
I have the 2013 toyota touchscreen. With Bluetooth connected to my iPhone and the dock connector to the head unit to charge. I can play the radio/cd on the head unit and when Google maps needs to chime in it mutes the radio and sends the directions to the head unit as if I was receiving a phone call via Bluetooth. I have only ever got it to work with both the Bluetooth and Dock connector connected. I have not really tried with only Bluetooth.
I also have IOS 7 but it did work with IOS 6 the same way.
I am sure I am dif setup and you both are likely using aftermarket head units. I honestly just read the last post. I dunno maybe that helps?

So I just tried to have my stock head unit on mode "BT" while using google maps and yes it does work thru speakers. So if I want music and directions I have to use pandora. That sucks :(

I think the difference is the dock. I just ordered a dock for my S3 and will see what happens when that comes in

Wasn't there yesterday. Almost a foot in diameter. Glad I saw it now instead of walking in to it later on...

Yeah I was surprised! Great snag!

I plan to bring some tools and parts. My tail light is LED so I'm good. I need an extra headlight bulb because I only have a single bulb for hi/lo
