i just did the free alarm mod and it was a piece of cake. didn't see too much in the forums here on this so i thought i would post on it. it only took about 20 minutes and its completely free if you have the keyless entry.

Bumpin an old thread. I just came across this mod and I don't really understand the point. Can someone explain why you would want to do this? What more does it do than the factory setting?

its supposed to take 30 seconds for the alarm to activate after locking the doors.

follow these steps and see if it works:
-roll a window down so you can reach the lock
    -close all the doors
-lock it with your key FOB
    -wait 30 seconds or longer
-reach in truck through the open window and pull up on the lock(do not use the power lock button)

this should sound trigger the alarm

I have the RS3200 or whatever its labeled as - dealer installed option for me. No matter how sensitive I adjust that glass breakage sensor (which is what it is), it never works. You're supposed to rattle your keys on the window and its supposed to chirp out a warning. Doesn't work for me. Not missing out.

As for plug and play, I'm going to guess there is a harness which comes with the RS3200 and the glass breakage sensor plugs into it. That thing goes to the RS3200 module behind the drivers side kick plate. You could pull your accessory panel (the one where the sensor would snap into) and see if you see an extra plug for something to plug into.

Simce this thread came back to life today, does anyone perhaps know where I can find a rs3000 or rs3200 module/harness?

Id like to install on my 01.

You can try ebay or the junk yard but good luck. They seem pretty hard to find. If I were you, I would remove the driver's side kick panel to see if you might already have it.

I seen a rs3200 module on ebay but idk if its the right one or not. I see all sorts of different part #s through these threads I cant pinpoint the right one.

Id hate to spend $80 just for it to be the wrong thing ya know.

It’s been a minute since I did this but, believe it only worked with keyless entry as stated in OP. Locking the truck with the remote us what sets the alarm.

A few of us OG’s are still around.
