Going with the wife and some friends. We are unsure of the date but I say October. Does anyone have any advice? Places to see, things to do and things/places not to see or do. Best way to save money on food?

There's an awesome restaurant about 2 streets over from 5th Avenue, and it's AWESOME. It's called the Mickey Mantle restaurant. I'd really go there again. :D :hungry:

Oh and yeah, nothing is cheap in NYC. Even McDonalds is high.

Yea I know, i promised my wife several years ago but I didn't think she would remember!!! I went about 13 years ago and enjoyed it OK. The manager I hired is from Jersey but hasn't said what you have but also has warned me of a few things.

Somebody pulled a gun on me in the subway, and stole my wallet with $200 in it. That's to say, I'd probably not ride it again.

Never go on the subway by yourself. Make sure the car has a fair amount of people on it, if the station is empty, take a taxi.

if you want something off the beaten path there is Bella Vita Pizzeria, i went there on my senior trip, it is at 158 West 58th st. NYC (of course) we were on 5t ave at the FAO Schurtz and Apple store, 58th is right there, we walked about 2 blocks it was on the right. It seemed like not many tourist go to it. Very small as usual for manhattan, but had seating for about 12, we had 4 of us in there and we were fine. The guy at the front knew we were from out of town and treated fairly well for New Yorkers. Its just a change of pace

I was actually with my brother and my uncle, so we were in a small group or 3. There wasn't MANY people on the train, so that's where our mistake was. Thanks for the heads up Derek! :)
