starter click..

well, its been happening for a while, but I thought it was just the battery..bought a new optima, and installed tonight..no differnce..the chiltons is a joke for starter remove/install..can anyone tell me how do to it?

 

ill go get my haynes manual & post up what it says!

 

1)detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Caution: if the stereo in your vehicle is equipped with an anti-theft system, make sure you have the correct activation code before disconnecting the battery.
2)raise the front of the vehicle & support it on jackstands.
3)detach the electrical connectors from the starter/solenoid assembly.
4)remove the starter motor mounting bolts.
5)remove the bracket from the upper section of the starter/solenoid assembly.
note:on 4WD models, it may be necessary to remove the front wheel & fender liner & access the starter motor through the opening.

where are the bolts? I kinda half assed looked, and couldnt find them earlier tonight. They go throu the rear of the bellhousing?

 

yupp they go thru the bell housing
there hard to get to unless ya have a body lift

 

damn..sounds like a pain in the ass

well..got the old one out, and the new one in. From start to finish, and 2 trips to the parts store, it took me about 3 hours with the help of my dad. Starts just fine now, thanks everyone who lent a hand..er..typed some help.

 

the hardest part about doing the job, was trying to figure out how to get the damn plug off the starter. Everything else was cake.
