2WD off-roading?

Well my truck is a 2wd and I keep getting stuck every time I go out in some mud. Is there a skill to this? 2 out of 2 times Ive tried to go out muding I got stuck. Can anyone tell me what they do or help me out? Also I'm going to the beach in a couple of days and going to take my truck. What do you all recommend i deflate my tires at for the moist sand?

 

Yes airing down for sand is nearly crucial....More so for a 2WD cause if you get stuck you are going to need someone to tug you out.

And wheeling a 2WD is a skill. I know nothing about it cause I've always had 4x4...I'm sure someone will be able to help you tho.

 

I've never gotten stuck in mud. Only sand. I must be a natural.

 

Oh yes, air down in the sand. I run at about 12 PSI in the sand on all tires.

 

I'm guessing its because i have Mudsss so they digg pretty fucking quick!!!

 

You would think muds would get through the mud easier.

 

i dont see how your getting stuck with KM2's either.... I am running stock dunflops and came close a few times but havnt been stuck yet. just keep momentum up and try not to stop in the mud. Look for the stuff thats not as deep.

 

Momentum is huge! Don't go too fast, but fast enough.

 

12 is pretty low imo...

I don't run less than about 17 unless I have an air supply for immediate air up once I'm done. If you lose a bead-it sucks- and the lower the pressure goes...The more likely it is to happen if you hit and rock or bumps on your way to get air...but again-all that is my 4x4

But yes I have an air compressor and I fill the tires back up when it's time to hit the road.

 

and if you air down low. dont make sharp turns. you will slide right off that bead and your done.

 

GO VERY VERY FAST!!!!!

 

It is way more fun to play in 2wd. Mudding is a skill in general especially here where I live, we often times don't have a bottom. Keep the speed up without don't dog it ease into the speed. When moving forward gets slow and you think you will get stuck start turning your wheel not a whole bunch just enough to get the rear wheels biting some new ground not just following the front wheel.

 

in my opinion prerunning is the best kind!! more challenge.... i guess haha but i 2wd and ive only gotten stuck twice..... once in the desert and the other time i almost got out but somone pulled me out

and with 2wd you have to mob thrugh mud supe fast or you will get stuck

 

i know all about momentum....... and running into bushes.... and trees

i haven't gotten stuck w/ my 2wd taco yet. I did all the time w/ my 4wd , z71. Approach things logically, with a little more speed that normal, know what the hole contains (no secret monster ruts). I used to just crawl through everything like i do on my jeep (has kick ass tires and 4wd), but with the taco, you gotta hit the "TRUSTWORTHY" mud hole about 5-10 mph. more like 10 though.

 

I really don't do mudding, but I do like trails. With my Prerunner, I haven't really gotten stuck YET.
