Colinb17's kinda sorta build thread - now with 4-link and long travel

100LB+ bed rack, hi-lift and other junk on the rack, full sized spare, 90LB rear bumper, 150LBs+ in the tool box, and a full 5 gallon jerry can. that's somewhere between 400 and 500 LBs in the bed at all times.

I may not need sand bags

 

do you sag in the back much with that much weight??? Are you still rocking the AAL??

 

I do sag some with the TSB and AAL, but i only have the front at 1'', so it's right at level.

 

Explored Kansas a little more while i'm up here. Went to a place called Tuttle Creek. Met up with member "Reves" and his friend who has an FJ.

Even though they aren't the most challenging sometimes, the creekbed trails are always my favorite. did the first one with the guys, but they had to leave early, so i did the second part solo.











took this just because it was a cool looking tree.



this guy walked almost a mile to find me. know your limits people, especially when you are alone.

just ordered these bad boys. gonna hammer my license plate flat again and then clamp it to the bed rack to get it out of harms way once and for all.

 

Saw some intake temps I wasn't too fond of while crawling around this weekend. Engine temp was doing well at the high rpm and low speed, but man does this intake absorb heat. figured this should at least help the tube a little. still figuring out what to do for the box itself.

I hit 150 at one point . I was about 100 outside. engine only hit 210, which i usually get to once or twice on a hot, low speed, wheeling day. we were all firing at high revs at times. Reeves had to to stop his truck and blow the heat at one point. not sure what his actual temp was, but it got hot enough under the hood to falsely raise his thermometer to 120 degrees.

 

planning on finally tackeling my rock lights this weekend. after a friend of mine sent me some videos of what he did though, i'm changing up my lights a little. I'll still put the marine LEDs to good use somewhere else, but for the rock lights, i'm now going to use a kit that Vision-X makes, called the Tantrum. multiple modes, including constant on, strobe, and then one that uses a built in microphone to pulse them with your stereo

I'm running those they're awesome. Just a warning the provided tape doesn't do the best job holding them into place
