Recently truck seemed to have "run out" of freon so i bought a gauge a some freon with oil for compressor. Charged the truck and quickly blew cold a/c and everything seemed fine and lasted for about two weeks and today started to blow out hot... Seems like i have a small leak somewhere.. My question is though.. I connected my gauge to show pressure and when compressor is off, pressure was in the red zone of gauge around 100 psi. When i turned on my compressor though it dropped to about 2-3 psi. Should i be worried about this or just find the leak and repair?

Get it to a shop ASAP. If that recharge kit had a stop-leak in it (many do), if any air gets into the system it will blow your compressor. Do NOT open the system... it needs to be completely evacuated and purged.

Yes, the pressure difference is normal. When not running, the system equalizes. When running, the compressor moves the refrigerant to the high pressure side and pressure on the intake side drops. The compressor is shut off at low pressure to protect it.

As long as it has pressure, you're good.
I would unplug the compressor to be safe. Keep in mind that the defroster uses the compressor too.
