For what he does with it, that is not necessarily a bad thing. haha For the most part Prerunners can get more travel out of the same kit because they don't have to worry about the CV's binding. They can also run longer shocks because the shock body doesn't have to clear the CV's.

Not sure about 1st gens, but 2nd gen non-LT Prerunners can fit 8" stroke C/O's while 4x4's can only clear 6" C/O's because the CV is in the way.

I'll still keep my 4x4, but I live in Idaho and don't spend all my time in the whoops.

Yeah, LT kits do. I meant non LT rigs and stock is like 4" or something. You can literally take a brand new 2nd gen Prerunner and stuff an 8" travel shock into it with very little work. It couldn't really use it until you got some after market UCA's, but after that it is pretty much MT up front. You can't do that with a 4x4 because the CV axle is in the way of the shock body.

    Da faq you smoking man?

Prerunners might fit a 8" but it's stupid even with a UCA caus the LCA wouldn't allow it to work..

The only thing other then some travel numbers a prerunner has that I'd like is spindle lifts.

I never said I want a pre-runner, I was just saying that was one of the advantages. When I was looking into getting some coilovers for up front and measured everything out, If my CV wasn't in the way, I can fit some of the 8" travel King Coilovers with my current setup. I probably can't compress them all the way, but I can get pretty close to fully extending them. Might be somewhat pointless at first but you wouldn't have to buy a new set of C/O's when you go LT.

If you find a set of 6" travel kings, you can add a 2" rod entension on the end and they will fit on 2nd gens and are basically the same extended length as 8's they just don't compress as much.

Blackhawk88 has a write up on it on this site somewhere back before he went LT.

Oh I get what your saying. So an 8" shock doesn't have that long spindle like all other 2nd gen shocks do

Loser haha :p I can fit an 8" 1st gen FTW

Typically you see lots of short body 8" shocks on the 4wd LT rigs. Prerunners don't have to worry about it. I'll bet it is the same case for 1st gens as well. How else do you get around the CV axle unless your axles are just that skinny. Might explain why 1st gens break them easier. I guess it is also possible that your shock is far enough off to one side to clear the CV, but I think that would cause a weak point on the LCA pivot that is on the opposite side of the shock.

Only difference I know of on the shocks is the bottom coil bucket is flat for prerunners and a cone shape for us. Just shorter coils I think.

3/4 elliptical or full eliptical will give LOADS of droop and LOADS of axle wrap without traction bars. By the time you do traction bars the right way to control the springs you might as well have 4-linked the thing.

Not to mention they can be very sketchy on the road. Either setup should only be used on a trail only rig.

Yeah, every rig I have seen with it (all on the internet of course) have been trailer queens basically.
