Well probably good I didn't go then. I'd be acting like a gurl the whole time.

Yep. That stuff was delicious. Truthfully it didn't have any taste to it at all. I'm super glad I didn't swallow it. Was feelin' it that day :D

The bumper has primer on it, correct? You will want to give it a light sand all over and wash. POR 15 should stick well at that point. Especially if you are coating the entire bumper.

Frankly the best primer for POR 15 is a light coat of rust. Second best is bare metal. If you put it on a painted surface, it will peel off.

Paint your bumper once the POR 15 has some tack. If the stuff dries completely, you will have trouble getting regular paint to stick. They say you can sand it but I've never tried it. It can be a bit of a pain to work with but the stuff is rock solid if applied properly.

Once you're done, put a layer of saran wrap on the can before closing the lid - basically prevent metal surfaces of the can from contacting the lid. Also release some gas from a lighter or torch into the POR 15 - makes it last a lot longer since the gas displaces some of the oxygen in the can.

Here are the stats from our weekend in Naches with the Gitout crew. We were with Gitout on Saturday and split off Sunday to wheel in a different location.

Saturday measured from the 410/FS70 intersection:
    Max Elevation: 5004ft
    23.9 miles traveled

    Sunday measured from Camp Roganunda:
    Max Elevation: 6406ft
    34.7 miles traveled

Took a few photos at Little Bald Mountain (indicated on the Sunday map):

Great trip. Lots of wheeling opportunities. There are a handful more trail left to explore but need to check closures before making any plans.

Hey there Greenhatter. We actually had a meet/camping trip just this last weekend. It was actually a Gitout.com meet.

There are some plans going on for a meet/greet/mod on September 7th. I need to confirm that to make sure.

    Any of those sound familiar?

I was also thinking of proposing something for the weekend of the 14th or the 21st.

    Andrew -

Would like to know what you think of that paint once you're done; one of the projects when I get home is going to be taking my bed off and painting my frame... Either going to try POR-15 or marine epoxy ($$).

Still have to paint that swing out bumper from Billy; think I may just rattle can it..

I know its not for another week but I thought I would bring it up again just to make sure. Is there really going to be a mod meet on September 7th? And do you guys normally bring wives/girlfriends? If its not gonna happen I'll get started on my lift sometime this weekend.

Just waiting for the day I can see the bumper installed on the truck, Andrew ;)

If I might add, POR will be a brute for truck frame. I would consider applying it if I removed my bed. Take a sanding disc to remove paint and large scale rust. Then spread the stuff on. Since it's on your frame, no paint needed. I now use it to chase rust on my belly armor. POR is rock hard once cured.

On a lighter note, I had a small area on my skid plate where I spray painted on top of cured POR. Looked great. Fast forward to 6 months later when I'm pressure washing dirt from a wheeling trip and that paint peeled of quicker than derp. POR still looked great though.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
I need suggestions. Wife decided she wants to go explore some area lakes this weekend. Anything that doesn't take a pass (or can get one at the park) or lots of trail work to get to. I promised her the clear lakes and streams we have up here in the NW.

Anything around the Auburn area or close to? And if anyone is bored and wants to make it a family event/picnic? We do have the 5 month old with us

Good thoughts. Usually wives/girlfriends are completely welcome at any event.

Zach - are you still up for having people invade your place on September 07th?

Take her to Mowich lake in Mt. Rainier park. You do need a forest pass though. You could pick up a day pass on the way. It's a beautiful lake.

Much of the area directly to the East of you is closed to public access since it is a watershed (Chester Morse). You'll probably want to go E on 410 or go up and head E on I-90. I would personally suggest E on I-90 to start exploring the Alpine Lakes wilderness.

Lake Talapus is a great start, off NF9030 and an easy 45 minute hike. It will open you up to trails leading to a number of other smaller lakes. I took my 5 month old up there on a backpack/baby carrier when she was the same age.

If you want to stay in the car, go further up I-90 to Snoqualmie Pass where there is a bit of a trail system between Lake Keechelus and Lake Kachess (which are large alpine lakes). Not challenging, but relaxing and still fun forest road wheeling with great views.

I haven't had much luck exploring behind Hyak (also near Snoqualmie Pass) as many roads are gated. Might as well get out there before deer/elk hunting season starts. Then it's more congested. You might even run into some grouse or bear hunters this weekend.

There is a ton to explore and learn in that area. I'm no expert but PM me if you want.

Haslefre, I see you have an AF emblem on your profile. All military get free annual park passes. They will allow you and a guest in for free. so it shouldn't cost a dime.

How's the weekend shaping up for you guys?

I need to focus on getting things in order around the house. clutter, paperwork...

Also, I won't be able to finish it all, but hoping to knock something off the long list:
-Finish the HAM book so I can put that test to bed
-Buy and mount a HAM antenna. Install HAM radio
    -Install truck switches
-Fab up a mount for the fire extinguisher
-wash truck (I really should wax it... I hate waxing things)
    -vacuum truck
-take top plate spacers off the front coils
    -post more stuff for sale
    -get alignment

I could keep going on and on...
