Tacomas being used for work

Here's a quick picture of a Tacoma i saw in Los Angeles a couple of days ago. Picture is from a camera phone, so it's not the best quality. If you have any other pictures of tacomas at work,keep this thread going........

sorry, i took so long to reply(i wasn't kepping up to dat w/ this thread) wow! you're definitely putting your taco to work! Thats a lot of damn weight. How do you like towing with it?

 

Heres mine rightfully titled "earning it's keep" towing our backhoe... BTW thats an 18ft flatbed and about 7000lbs behind my Taco there.

 

Dude.......that has got to be the heaviest thing i've ever seen a pick-up truck pull ever!! I don't know what else to say, that is insane!! That is a very good picture!

Tows just fine. Each one of those was a 100 mile trip up over a mountain range, down through some city streets, and then mostly flat roads to the destination (and then back the same way with a different load). All I'm missing is the blazer than came back after we traded the purple one.

Back end sags more than I want, but I don't have a weight distributing hitch. So the lumina sagged it even more with 4 truck wheels/tires in the bed. Still try to decide on a WD hitch or air bags. The hitches run around $300 unless I catch a sale. Airbags would help if I haul anything else in the bed though. (We get 1 ton of wood pellets once a month during the winter.) Then again I'm hoping to get a 16ft trailer soon so I'll have to make up my mind. lol

Uhaul auto transport weighs in around 2,000lbs. Assuming the fords weigh at least as much as my DC at around 4700lbs. I'm guessing I was over the 6500lb limit, but it handled fine.

 

No ef'in way . How much does your backhoe weigh? I cannot do that with my skid seer. Well.....I haven't tried.

 

well, to the best of my estimation, the backhoe is about 6500, then theres the trailer but its aluminum- keeps it a little lighter.

I think that in your case, airbags are the way the go....

 

I've got a trailer brake controller, and the trailer has electric disc brakes on both of the axles, so actually if i turned it up all the way the trailer would stop both the truck and tractor by itself. just gotta find the good trailers.

yeah, i had a local fabricator thats a friend of mine make it since i didnt have access to an aluminum mig at the time. its made out of some 1/8" diamond plate aluminum that was formed into bed rails, then the two formed uprights were welded to it with a 2"x3/16" wall boxed piece across the top, then 1"x 1/8"wall pieces down to protect my back window from damage. I designed the whole thing to bolt on with the factory bed rail bolts, and the rails are still in place and fully functional too.
