Driving back from an appointment in Houston today and saw a couple of vehicles stuck in the median between I-10 and the service road. I had enough time between my next appointment if I hurried, so I looped around and went back and offered to help.

This family was moving and had a blow-out on their car trailer. The wife had tried to drive her mini-van across the median and got stuck. The husband had unhooked from the trailer and tried to pull her out w/ his Chevy z71 with a HEAVY load in the back and street tires - he got stuck as well. So when I got there both family vehicles were stuck in the median, the trailer had a blow-out and the irritation was palpable! The husband was attempting to (unsuccessfully) extract the mini-van w/ a floor jack.

I hooked my '12 DCSB OR up to the z71 and the Mickey Thompsons hooked up in the soft ground - didn't even spin the tires! Of course, I forgot to get pictures till afterwards, here are the ruts...

Drove back around and hooked up to the mini-van, few minutes later it was out and parked on the side of I-10:

Everybody seemed a lot happier, so I left them to there trailer tire....

    Great job OP!

I held the door for someone today :anonymous:

Actually yesterday, I flagged down a utility van on my way to work. They had left the back wide-open, and were about to hop on the freeway. That would've gotten ugly real quick - tool buckets, step ladders, power tools, shop-vac etc. The mexican guys were very grateful I told them...jobs, money, and possibly lives may have been lost otherwise.

that camaro looks pretty sweet, I bet there was some heavy cursing before you got there though, no doubt about it.

hopefully that'll getcha some good luck for a while, a tow woulda be costly on their part

Nicely done! Doesn't look like much traffic on that highway, otherwise I'd be worried about rubberneckers crashing into me if I had done it. Out here, you take your life in your hands even stopping in the breakdown lane. Lots of NDF's!

None yet, need to finish the HEEP first
    Good job!

I want to know is WHY is the little minivan towing the flatbed car hauler with a heavy 60's Camaro on it? That set up weighs probably more than the minivan itself.

The mini-van wasn't - the husband had 4wd z71 towing the car hauler. He got that stuck also trying to pull her out. I pulled them both out, didn't take any pics of the truck, forgot until I went back for the car.

I look forward to the moment I get to every time! I've only ran into one person that needed help and that was a stock f250 diesel stuck in deep sand on the beach. I made $20 and felt good the rest of the day.

    Good work OP!

The best part of doing a good deed for someone is keeping the incident to yourself. Otherwise it always looks like one is seeking accolades. There are only two people that need to know....the person that required help and the helper.

^ I disagree. I hardly think OP was looking for a pat on the back. For me it was a good reminder to help your fellow man with no expectation of reward or accolade.
