If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
    That's quite the DB comment.

I would like to think that helping someone, and sharing about it is a great way to encourage others to do the same thing, and increase awareness. There are not enough "Good Sams" or compassionate people around anymore, so the more the merrier. I take it you are one of those people who would just drive by, or try to record it on your cell-phone?

Plus, it was a good excuse for the OP to show the capabilities of his Taco ;)

I don't think OP was looking for accolades, he just wanted to share how his badass taco was able to help some people out. I'm sure he's helped out other people before without any recognition, just like the majority of us do, but this was a cool story to share with tacoma minded people.

Good job OP! I'm sure you helped that family A LOT!

    Zactly!

Wasn't trying to brag about being a do gooder, having a little fun using my truck's capabilities. This is an enthusiast forum - thought I would share, that's all.

I guess one needs to have a degree of self-awareness, honesty, class and humility to understand the point I was making. I get the whole Tacoma enthusiasts argument because I like the trucks too. However, good deeds don't require bragging.

    Just sayin...

I agree, when you make an effort to help somebody, the last thing you should be thinking about is getting recognition. However, after all is said and done, it is ok to share the story with like minded people, and it is ok for us to give him some props, we've all done something for a stranger, and some of us have had a stranger help us when we were in need.
Maybe we read the story differently, I read about a guy with a taco, self aware that he had things to do himself, had enough class to try to help a family that was having a really bad day. He had enough humility to give up his time and risk his life and taco to make someones day better. Total class act if you ask me.
Maybe you read it like, this guy thinks his tacos bad ass, he had to show some guy in a chevy that he could pull him out and prove the greatness of his taco, and then he posted it here so we could all bow down to his tacos superiority? LOL-just exaggerating
I totally understand your points, I just think in this situation you have overreacted to his original post, he wasn't looking for accolades, just sharing a cool story.

We all have stories of helping others, and of getting help from others. Obviously you have helped out others without recognition, I'm just happy that there are people out there that do help when they can, recognition or not.

You have a rare gift for being able to determine intent and read people's thoughts from reading forum posts.

Can you tell what I'm thinking now?

I can tell what you are thinking, because its the same thing I'm thinking about two perticular posts in this thead. As the most humble person I know, I'm honestly aware that I have enough class to keep such thoughts to myself.:p

Please don't try and force your view, however well intended, on to this thread. You may feel the way you do, but judging from the responses, no one has looked at the OP as bragging, but touting how a Tacoma can be used to help someone out who is in need. If you took it as bragging, how about you use a 'degree of self-awareness, honesty, class and humility' and keep that to yourself.

OP, good for you...glad you could A) help a fellow person in need, and B) test the capabilities of your truck. We need more good samaraitins like you to retain a society with class and respect for one another.

Funny, you are the one talking about class, yet you are perceived as the one with the least class in this thread. OP never did anything that showed he wanted the recognition...he could have posted a poll that said "am I a great citizen or what? Yes or No?" That would have been a DB move...

Good job OP, and thanks for letting us know that you did. In a digital world like a forum, how else would anyone know? We don't all live in a small town. I like knowing that there are TW members who are the kind of people who stop to help others. There is way too little of that these days, and it's good for everyone to know about it when it happens. It's leading society in the right direction, with just one little act of kindness.

(By the way, the "minivan" is a really a SUV - a Chevy Traverse. We have the sister model because my wife didn't want a minivan. LOL.)

    I appreciate the support, but....

    Front wheel drive? Unibody construction?

    It's a minivan (with a nose job).....

My wife does not understand your points. DO NOT tell her it's a minivan. I would have rather had the minivan and saved a few thousand. Oh well.
