Dealer basically said is has to be fixed before I turn it on the lease, or I could take the check and refinance into a loan.

Or just take the check, drive it how it is and refinance later.

    .... what?

Try explaining that again? You're on the hook for hail damage on the lease?

Basically since its a lease, whatever damage I accrue on the vehicle I have to pay for either before I turn it in or when I turn it in. Same thing with mileage. Since I'm insured with full coverage, the insurance would take care of the repairs. Or I take the check, go to the dealer and refinance with that check as a down payment. Or I go get it repaired and turn it in on the lease for a new one. Or I take the check for the repairs, drive as is fix the damage later on my own money before turning it in on the lease.

Even though its a lease, I am responsible for damages to the vehicle. But I think they could also buy it back for a discounted price.

My plan is to keep the car, whether I refinance the lease to a loan, or keep it through the lease time.

We'll see what the adjuster says for cost on Tuesday.

Might be cheaper in the long run just to refinance into a car loan. May even get a cheaper interest rate and be cheaper in the long term.

I'm new to leasing, and maybe it's different elsewhere, but I'm pretty sure you can't change the lease once you're signed up. The only way to get out of it as far as I know is to transfer it to someone else who agrees to finish out your term as originally agreed. You basically sign up to pay them exactly the total amount agreed, unlike a loan where you could pay off the principle and get out of paying future interest.

    The better coast
Unless they total it, but I don't think that will happen :p

Also depends on how long the lease is. if its toward the end they may say you can just roll into a new lease with a lower payment.

My lease is written in such a way that I can refinance into a loan at anytime for the remaining balance on the lease.

OMG, don't do that! Then you would basically be paying interest on interest. Unless they are removing the calculated in money factor which I doubt.

What I'm saying is, I have already paid a certain amount on the car, I can take it in and change the lease to a loan for the remaining balance.

Right now I am paying a set amount to Toyota Financial, if I go back in and refinance to a loan, it will be the amount remaining plus interest and I can pay on the principle.

Which is why it would be better to wait until later on in the lease to refi along with a down payment.

But your lease payments already include interest. If you refi into a loan you are now paying additional interest on what you still owe for the lease. There's no benefit, only loss. Toyota has your money guaranteed for the lease, there's no way to reduce it.

I'll have to check into that...I was doing some math and things aren't adding up, its a 5 year lease, which means I should be paying 433 a month for the amount that I paid for the car...but I'm paying a lot less.

Need to recheck my paperwork lol!

    Question for you guys...

I'm in a 2013 tacoma with TRD seats, I'm 6' 175lbs. I find the tacoma seats incredibly uncomfortable...the steering wheel doesn't telescope far enough to have adequate leg room, and if I sit up straight the windshield is too short.

I sat in an FR-S at the dealer over the weekend during my 15k service--the seats were incredible, to the point that I am seriously considering the trade. Originally I was looking at a fun older car to complement the Taco (ie porsche 944), but now I'm thinking maybe trade the Taco for the FR-S and get and older truck for house projects and camping.

Do the seats still feel as good as you continue to own them? Any complaints on long term comfort? Thanks guys.

Thanks for the input. For me the issue is all in my back and it happens as soon as I get in the truck.

I love the seats in my FRS, they haven't seemed to get worse with age either.

6' 200lbs here...I never had an issue with the my Taco seats, but as you found out, going from that to the FRS is quite the change! Longest drive for me so far is probably a little over 2 hours and I don't have any issues to speak of...comfy as can be the whole way.

Alright so maybe you guys can help me.. I'm considering trading in the taco for a 2013 used FRS. I'm getting kinda tired of the payments on my truck and with not being able to work next summer (medical issue) I'm unsure as to whether or not I will be able to afford my truck.

I'm looking at both the manual and automatic. I really enjoy manual but with wanting to move to a city and with the gf not able to drive stick I think I'm leaning towards the automatic. Is there a noticable difference between the two?

I also know some of you went from tacoma to FRS, do you regret the decision?
