Susan any way that you could put at least one side into a wall stud?

A couple years ago a friend and I installed a ~55"LCD to a wall using toggle bolts. One went through the steel wall studs the other was just through the drywall (we used some pretty large toggles.)

Last I heard it's still hanging on the wall.

Unfortunately, no. studs are 8" off from where I need to mount this thing. There are 3 screw holes, all in a row. Although I have been thinking about mounting a 1x8 to the studs and attaching the mount to the board. You won't see much of it anyway, and whenever I move, I'll take it down and fill the holes.... TV weighs about 15 pounds, so it shouldn't be too bad. Just don't want to take a chance on using the dry wall, because I will be moving the tv on a regular basis. If I wasn't going to move the tv, I'd just use some wall anchors.

A 1x8 painted the same color as the wall would be easy and work great, and if you decide to move the tv you have minimal damage to the sheetrock behind.

I have about 8 bikes hanging in the garage from hooks on two 1x8s screwed to the studs. It works great - I'm currently working on a "Murphy desk" that will be anchored to the living room wall in a similar way.

The Doctor I am seeing for my knee has one in his office. Actually work well and will support a considerable amount of weight.

    Susan:
Use toggle bolts not wall anchors to mount the TV. 15 pounds is not a lot but the TV moving around will loosen up the drywall around the anchors.

If you are decent with drywall work you can always cut a 6"X6" square and slip a couple of 1"X4" pieces of wood behind the drywall. Screw them into the drywall, screw through the drywall and into the stud. Patch the hole, mud everything up and paint the wall. I have used this method before with great success.

You have a set of plans for that or just making your own design?

    B:
How is the sound system working out for you in the Tacoma? I must resist the urge to upgrade to an app radio.

Looks nice Jim. Even the Pony car behind it could be a good looking car. ;)

It's working awesome now that I have it set up right lol. I had a switch set to the wrong position on the amp and it was causing a bit of distortion. Had it set up by the shop I bought it from and now it's awesome

Can't believe how much of a difference just adding the sound deadening material to the truck has made. Only thing that vibrates is the rear view mirror lol

Haven't looked into the app radios, what's the benefit?
