I made it out on a run once :) I've done some exploring while camping a few times on my own also. One time was in a pretty desolate spot in upstate Maine so I didn't do anything stupid since getting stuck would have meant a 20 mile walk to the main roads...

Now you're talking! I love playing poker, haven't played a good game of hold 'em since college.

I told my wife I was apprehensive about showing her, without missing a beat she says "It isn't my truck". :)

I pretty sure one doesn't die from Alzheimer's........they die with Alzheimer's. Correct me if I'm wrong. Not being insensitive.

You're right, it doesn't kill you directly, it kills you indirectly which is why it's soo terrible. It can cause one to be bed ridden, everything becomes more difficult and things can start shutting down and not functioning as they should. So no, Alzheimer's isn't the cause of death directly, but without it, many people would have lived a lot longer.

The memory loss is what most people think of..and that's true. But as it progresses, people become unable to walk, dress, feed themselves..in large part because the brain stops telling the rest of the body how to work correctly. We brought my father in law home end of June and he's not been out of bed once. Having to feed him, change his diaper, and mind him 24 hours is just terrible.

While usually a side effect of the Alzheimer's is what causes death, it is possible to die directly from it..it can cause death in cells enough to take a life. Most of the time it is another direct cause of death (such as pneumonia or infection) however. My father in law has been unsteady on his feet for years, some days worse than others..so if he fell and broke a hip that would have been another example.

My grandmother had dementia and it was described by a doctor at that time as at least that itself can't kill you.

What may appear psychotic is merely calculated risk...

    And scratched paint...

    And dented bodywork...

    And beat up skids :)

My mom's mom died of emphezima (or however you spell it) while she had Alzheimer's, but it took her sooner, which was good. And my dad's dad has dementia and Parkinson's while also also having Alzheimer's and its painful seeing an engineer struggle to read a wristwatch, never mind comprehend what it is used for

My uncle went from being an Airforce engineer to not remembering how to get dressed. Plus he had diabetes on top of that. Sucks to see someone go through that.

Damn no tacos... may not go. Doesn't make sense to pay the extra fees to wheel with the guys from my club then. Were goin gretchans again in a couple weeks.

PS only the first dent hurts. Unless the second one is larger.

    Fixed it..

And yeah, the clock test is one they give the patient to determine how bad it is..my father in law would get real mad trying to do it.

I've said it before and really done it again recently..told my family if that happens and I won't get any better, throw me in the pool for one last naked cannonball..and if I come up, hold me under the water and let me go.
