I really like this. I think you did a fine job honestly, though, it would of been nice to get a closer zoom on his facial features!

How many of you guys color calibrate your monitors? I picked up a spyder4 and it makes a world of difference when editing on my 24" Also it made everyones photos in here look better :D

Cool shot I took today while out shooting (guns) with my buddies. Minimal editing, and shot with polarizing filter.

Just plug it in to your laptop and install the software that comes with it. The program will guide you through the calibration. I did both my laptop monitor and 24" monitor. I honestly think it's worth it. I looked at a picture I edited before and after calibration and there was a difference in how I edited it. Not outrageous but enough to make me glad I did it.

Also, another cool one from today :D Everyone is always just shooting the front of flowers!

you done editing yet Monte! lol

On average, from any shooting session where most of the pics are of the same situation or conditions how long are you spending with each pic in LR5? The most i've spent with a single pic yet is 30 min and that was way above average when I was playing with features of LR5...

    Awesome shots Patch!

    Marc..i don't spend a ton of time..most i have spent is about 30mins. Average i bet is under 5.

I went to a concert tonight so didn't get a lot done. Im not liking how they turned out. I needed to use a faster shutter speed so a lot came out burlly :( and i was shooting at iso 4000 inside to get it to work worth a damn which caused a lot of noise.

Should have used a flash but can't really when you staring down people doing hard work with lots of focus.

What else should i have done to combat the horrible lighting??

Hmmm maybe just run a plus one stop exposure comp plus the lowest u can run for apature with ur lens? Thats all i got... i would keep it below or at iso 2000 cuz i hate grain. Its the worst getting shots and not getting much of what you hoped for!

Meh, that's what Lightroom is for.

It's noise, not grain. Grain is from film, not digital ;)

One way to combat it is with faster glass, adjusting the exposure in the camera
