    Hey everyone.
I was thinking earlier. I was wondering has anyone ever painted their bed cleats the same color as their truck colour? If you have can you post some pictures?

    That would be great. Thanks!

IDK, but i wouldn't think it would be that hard, just take it apart and hit the plastic parts with some rattle can. maybe you could do it and post a write up

I am just wondering if they could be taken apart to be painted? Since that it's spring loaded it might be a big pain in the ass to get off and back on.

seems like it would just chip and scratch too much to be worth it.

They come apart and go back together with ease. Had mine apart more than a few times when building my RTT racks.

Do you happen to have pictures or videos on how they come apart?

Just keep loosening until it comes apart. It gets a little stiff when it's close to coming apart. The spring only takes a couple of pounds of force to compress to get it back together. Couldn't really be any simpler. You won't break it, I promise.

Oh I'm not worried about breaking it. I'm worried about a big coiled up spring hitting me in the face. :) Even though that would be funny.

By the time the cleat is within a couple threads of coming off, all pressure is off the spring. If you are really worried, wear a full face helmet and some safety glasses. Then when you get it apart take pictures of yourself and the spring and post them here. I would bet you'd get more than a few laughs and maybe even some peR.

x2, I abuse my cleats too much for it to be worth my time prepping and painting. OP, I'm curious how they'd hold up so post results if you do it.

Haha! I am still trying to catch up on my Plasti Dipping while the weather is still summer like. Ugh! Soon enough it's going to be winter. I don't have a lot of time to think about if I am going to paint them or not. Not enough ventilation in the house to paint them.

Sorry for the wait got too dark to take pictures last night. Came apart just like Boone taco said pretty straight forward. I left the knobs black to go with the panda theme of the rest of the truck. Two coats of krylon fusion and two coats of rustoleum crystal clear for a little durability. Sorry for the one pic being upside down can't figure out why.

I don't see how painting them can be durable. As soon as you tie a rope to them or hook a bungee cord to them it'll start wearing the paint off.

Honestly.... That's the best time to paint. Of course you'll wake up and wonder why the couch, tv, cat, etc... is painted too...
