Looks good man , I to have had some boomin systems back in my day , I'm 26 ( though i feel older lol ) . I'm pretty happy with this simple setup . Might upgrade the jbl door speakers some point down the road , they are ok now since I turn the bass down and just have to sub hit all of the lows . But clarity could be better .

Def agree with you. As a former audiophile the non JBL system lacks in many ways but I simply dont care anymore. Ill stick with it until it bugs the crap out of me. I am 39 so priorities change the older you get for some. my priorities shall be lift, wheels/tires etc...fun stuff.

I've recently come to the conclusion that although I'm 26, I will not be growing out of big bass for a long time, so I just got a 12w6 and am having a factory spec box made for it right now.

    hahaha

Some people never grow out of it. In my 30's, still a bass head.

My amp is located under the drivers seat . As long as your amp is less then 2" in height there's plenty of room.

You can use any headunit you want, with either OEM headunit you need a line output converter or you can use the high level inputs if your amp has them.

Im using a cheap PAC converter but theres many to chose from.

nice ! Id love a little more bass sometimes but this is satisfying for now.

where are you fitting that w6?

what problem would the LC6i take care of? as far as i can tell the stock head unit outputs a fairly flat signal

well you lose some quality by amplifying a sound signal and then reducing it back down . For example the oem headunit doesnt have RCA outputs , so you taking and amplified signal and reducing it back down.

LC6 helps with clarity and Fq. I think my $20 Pac converter works fine, but if you want the best and maximum clarity LC6 makes a difference.

Yes I did everything myself, sorry I just simply dont have the time to do another install and box .
But there's a lot of shops that i'm sure could build you a nice box just from the details on my blueprint.

i don't believe it, i have run a few tests on the speaker outputs with an oscilloscope. output is flat from top to bottom. your $20 PAC may not be as adjustable, but i can almost guarantee quality is identical

SlowComa, normally I would agree with you but a simple LOC cant do what a dedicated/gain one like the LC2i can. My amp (MTX Thunder 251D) doesnt have any xover in it so a basic LOC will sound like crap. I just finished installing the LC2I and ACR-1 in my truck and after a bit of tuning im very happy with it and surprised how well such a small box fills in the much needed bass response. I will be happy with this setup using the stock HU until many others on the Want list are gone.

you had a specific need that the LC2i met. you saved money by not buying a crossover in this instance. you also wanted a remote volume controller. so it is money well spent in your situation

Definitely. Agree with you very much on your first point of needless money spent by many people. Im sure after I listen to mine for a while (only had the truck 3 weeks) I will probably upgrade more as I have a full set of Morel mid/tweet/crossovers sitting in my stash that keep staring at me...

Update! Rattles were pissing me off so I sound deadened the crap out of the back wall and while the box was out I decided it was ugly so I made it pretty....I had some carbon vinyl laying around for years so it finally found a home!

Looks good , basic sound deadening is key in that location . I also did some on the plastics that cover the rear seats . That made a huge differance aswell .
