half the posts on here are very difficult to evaluate. MSRP and price paid without T&T and trade is what is important. When you state OTD price you are not helping anyone.

Car buying is a ridiculous sport. Especially if you are an informed consumer. And for a big purchase one should be well informed. No excuse not to be, too much information out there.

So, like many of you, I knew all the options, pricing, what's fair, what my trade is worth (including wholesale value). I know all the numbers, and what was available in stock at local dealers.

I went to several dealers. Some refused to deal. At all. One was trying to sell me on the wonders of the backup camera. Really? The backup camera???? All started with "double cab long bed? those are hard to get". Every dealer had 2-4 of them on the lot. Usually 1 limited or TRD/OR, 1 TRD and 2 SR5. It was like a formula almost.

I paid $30,000 for DCLB SR5 4X4. Edmunds TMV was $29980, for an invoice of $29,218 and a list price of $31,520.

I also got 14000 for my trade. I could have got about 15000 for a private sale but then I would have lost the tax break for the trade and been more aggravation.

Probably took 3 back-and-forths with the "man in the tower", and then the final "will you buy today at this price"

Could I have done better? Maybe. It is a silly game. Unfortunately there are still some folks who buy "by payment", don't research, etc, etc.

Anyway, I spent a lot of time waiting at the dealer. A LOT of time. Time I cannot afford to waste. I think I spent almost 2 hours WAITING for the F&I guy. I had to leave. They were not happy. I said I would come back and I did. I still had to wait almost an hour the next day. The salesman spent MOST of the time post-sale going over the survey with me. You know "lie if you have to" "give me all good scores" etc. On the one hand I feel bad for the guy, I know it is basically a sh!tty job, long hours, but I think I waited a grand total of 6 hours - that's 6 hours WAITING. Not talking, not negotiating. Just sitting there. If they were REALLY concerned about the survey, they would make sure that does not happen.

I got my 2013 RC 4wd for $19,5XX. I had cash, which didn't help the deal at all and they kept trying to get me to finance, I presume so they could tack on extras (like undercoating, paint protection, key insurance, etc.etc) without it costing me too much a month. I really only wanted/needed a very basic 4X4, but I kept playing the "well for a little more, I could get an access cab, for a little more than that I could get a V-6, for a little more than THAT I could get the 4 door, etc.,etc." scenario in my mind. In the end, I got exactly what I wanted and had enough left over (from NOT buying a fully loaded Tacoma) to buy a brand new Harley Nightster.

I got a 4x4 DCLB TRD Sport in MGM, list was 33,000 and the "sale" price was 31,000. I was comfortable with that and had to do very little negotiating to get that.

I traded by 2009 4x4 AC SR5-2 with 100,000 mi and needing some major service (front brakes, rear leafs, all fluids, and tires) for 13,000. I was hoping for 10,500. They asked me what I wanted and I told them to just look at it of make an offer. Glad I played it that way!

No way I would have waited at a dealer for 6 hours. Very inconsiderate. It took me 5 to wrap a deal on Ford once because of incompetent staff. Almost walked out several times. I think gave them very low scores. Years later I had to fight with the sales manager to get off their mailing list. Key to buying, especially a Tacoma, is patience. If you shows any signs that you are hungry you will not get the best deal. Sales people are trained at reading people.

Just email the Internet sales manager and deal with them.

You can get quotes, and do all the back and forth bullshit without leaving your couch.

He kept asking for my phone number, and I refused to give it to him.

When I finally walked into the dealership, everything was sorted out, prices figured, etc.

Took maybe an hour to do paperwork.

I ended up getting a 2013 DCSB in pyrite mica with TRD OR, Tow pkg, Side steps, Floor mats for $29100 with taxes and title included. I traded a 2004 ford explorer with 100k miles 2wd for $3500. THe dealer also has a lifetime power train warranty as long as you own the vehicle and maintenance DOES NOT have to be done by the dealer only proof maintenance was performed. I was in and out driving my new truck in less than 3 hrs.

Nice where are you located? If I can get that kind of deal on the same basic truck, I'll be happy.

Are you dealing with Larry H Miller Toyota in ABQ? I am in southern New Mexico and am looking at getting a Black TRD Sport 4x4 DCSB with Tow Package. I am curious who gave you the deal for 29,500 for the Off Road version with no entune package.

I am in Las Vegas and looking for a new Tacoma. Of the Toyota dealers here in town, which is the best to work with pricewise?

got out the door just over 32k all in, dcsb spruce mica 6-spd TRD OR w/ rubber mats and class IV hitch and all that.

I feel pretty good about the deal. no homelink or front skid plate though, as per website, but whatever. it lives outside and the stock skid plate looks like it's about as good as the plastic one on my audi. it does look like it has some "armor" on the oil pan, trans pan, and transfer case.

anyway, it's been great so far getting me around in the mountains and out in the desert.

I think they do that on purpose so when you finally get in to sign papers and they try and sell all the "extras", you are tired and will sign anything just to get the heck out of there.

A really good place (in my experience) to buy a tacoma was toyota of greensburg PA. So if you're from or around the area I would definitely check them out!
