went to PC today and yikes!! My 4wd is not engaging. The little green light doesn't come on. So i had my wife drive in 4wd and i see the front drive shaft rotating. So i thought, maybe the bulb is out in the cluster. Nope, I go to go over an obstacle and nothing. only the rear wheels are kicking....any ideas??? i tried going in reverse and forward a few times in 4wd to see if it would engage...nothing!! I'm lost here

Anyone want to buy a humidor full of cigars? Throwing in a 5 cigar travel case, xikar cutter, and random cutter. Been sitting in my closet since I don't smoke them anymore and I'm tired of refilling the humidifier.

Assortment is pretty random honestly. Some rockey patel's, vegas golds, Bahia's, and then other random ones I've picked up at cigar stores and from sampler packs.
The little electronic humidity meter needs a new battery. PM if interested, located in Placerville.

    ...too much shit to list.

J stick or electronic transfer case?
Not sure if you have a locker or not, but did you do the grey wire mod if you do have a locker?

Regardless of the above, it could be as simple as the fuse. My truck has a 4wd fuse (which incidentally is also tied into the locker). I've pulled that fuse a couple of times so I wouldn't accidentally engage 4wd. Check the fuse...see if it's happy or not.

oops, forgot to post that...its a j stick. no lockers. I just checked the fuses and they are good. pulled it out, swapped it just in case. nothing!! I'm stummped...also unplugged the battery for a few minutes see if that would reset anything...nada!!

when you turn the truck to the on position without starting it, does the 4wd light turn on, like the check engine, oil light, etc??

The 4wd light does not turn on unless it is in 4wd, not even ignition on position.

You need to figure out if it's the xfer case that's not engaging or the ADD front diff. Actually...good question. Do you have manual or ADD hubs?

Jack up the truck, put it on stands on all 4 corners. Engage 4wd and put it in gear and look under the truck. If the front driveshaft spins with the rear, the xfer case is fine, and my money is on the ADD actuator or just a loose plug on the actuator. If it does not spin, check all the wires/plugs on the xfer case.

Edit: Nevermind on the hub question. I just looked at your profile and you have a 2004 which means auto hubs. I'm baffled that you have the j-stick xfer case though. I thought all 2004's had the electronic push button case, even the auto transmissions. Does your 4wd shifter have a button or not, such as this:
