A lot of it is the camera you use. Some do better than others at high ISO's. I used the noise reduction sliders in LR and PS. I sharpened it making a new layer and used the high pass filter. Adjusted the clarity a little too.

I don't shoot a lot of high ISO stuff but I did notice my pics improved dramatically using LR and photoshop together. In fact that game pic was one of my first shooting really high. I'm not much of a sports photographer anyway. I just can't get into the sports photos. Plus that field had to be one of the worse lit ones I've ever seen. I would rather shoot animals, landscapes, or do studio stuff any day. Lol

Just got it so not much. DrifZ Rims.
Post processing is only going to be as good as the original shot if you ask me. If you dont have a good original then there is not a lot that you are going to be able to do in post. Just like once a picture is blown out you can not recover what has been lost. Also looking at the other posts if you shoot with anything under a f1.8 you really need to be careful with your focussing do to a really small depth of field. When you get under f1.8 your margin for error gets larger. Here is a chart to give a visual example.

60d is EF-S and EF mount. You can use either type of lens.

If your canon camera has an APS-C, 1.6x crop sensor, you can use EF-S or EF lenses. If it is an APS-H or full frame sensor, it only has an EF mount.

Also, on your camera body. If you take off the lens and look at the mount, you will see a white square for EF-S lenses and a red dot for EF lenses. If you have only the red dot, you only have an EF mount and can only use EF lenses :)

Nice shots Mike :) I loved seeing the Thunderbirds when I was younger, still do but it's been a while.

Looking for some advice on this shot I took today from you guys who do this and have been for lots longer than I... What would you have done different with this shot in post? All I did as posted below was bump the K a bit lower than as shot as well as drop the exposure a bit because the grass and bright parts of the rocks were just washed out. I can send the raw file if anyone wants to play with it and post their edits :D

I would have bumped the shawdows a bit more to lighten up the tree more. Maybe the clarity a tad too.

This was cool. Its interesting to me cause we have the same camera and lens. But you have a different monitor and even more critically, different eyes and tastes for editing.

    Here is my version

Yea I was hoping you'd mess with it since we have the same cam/lens and LR5 :D

I like both renditions :) Your colors pop more/saturated. Its also interesting since you didn't see it first hand. The picture was taken just below the bottom of sinks canyon if you're wondering :D

I've got lightroom 5 on the way. Newb to editing outside of basic junk on my laptop. Hopefully it doesn't take me too long to get in the swing of things.

D7100 on the way with it as well :)

    Will post photos soon . . .
