    You can slide black heat shrink over the rod to get rid of the chrome. Thats How I did mine.

    the base of the threads is rights at the bottom of the grip and threads up into the handle about 1" They have to be made this way to clear the bottom of the handle due to the angle they sit at to be comfortable.
