I'm probably into it for just shy of $300.

    Tubing was around $70
I think I spent about $100 at DIY4x4.com on the bushings, the tabs for the bushings, pre-cut gussets, the mounting plate for the spare to bolt to, some tube end caps. Figured they were all precut and cheap enough saved tons of time.
I also bought a harbor freight tubing notcher. $40
Misc things at home depot spray paint, cut off wheels, sanding disks etc.

First big welding project I've ever done really. Learned a lot and for the most part enjoyed doing it. Even in this 100°+ Az heat! Haha

Everyone was okay. I wasn't with him. This was while he was in Norman, OK. He was being stupid with friends and wasn't paying attention and plowed into a Silverado. I think he may have totaled the Silverado, but I didn't see it. Airbags pretty much saved his life.

At what speed do the seatbelt tensioners lockup and permanently stay locked? Like, keeping the seatbelt from retracting.

I don't know about the exact speed, but I hit a little jump on a trail this weekend and only got a little bit of air and the person in my passenger seat couldn't get it to unlock for about 30 seconds.

I think it's more of a function of how much, and how quickly, force being applied to the seatbelt itself.

I can get it to "lock up" by merely reaching for the stereo too sharply... and then it won't release until I ease up on belt.

That's how I always thought it worked.

FWIW, there are no sensors or wires etc in the seat belt retractor assembly. As far as I could see when I had my interior torn apart.

Im really surprised that it lasted that long, i have a aluminum boat with live well that plugged off and was going to fill it full of ice to keep fish on and the first time i tried it the damn ice almost completely melted in about an hour. Awesome idea glad it worked for ya.
