I just want AM/FM/NAVIGATION/Bluetooth and have my steering wheel controls work. If it has Satellite or whatever extra that fine. But I want at least the other stuff minimum. My factory back up camera works through my rearview mirrow. Which is a pain but that's fine.

Check out Crutchfield.com and sonicelectronix.com to see your options.
The Kenwood and Pioneer decks install with the inexpensive Metra or Schoesche (sp?) adapter kits. The Alpine unit is nice, but expensive and has it's own adapter.

If you currently have steering wheel controls, it's a simple matter to adapt them to the new HU (the Bluetooth button won't work).
A good installer CAN reroute the camera from the mirror to the HU, but it will take some custom wiring... it's not just a "plug and play" since the video signal is currently only available in the kick panel.

Personally, I would recommend a speaker upgrade. Even if you aren't into music, they make a big difference in the enjoyability of even news/talk radio at highway speed. With my stock stereo, I couldn't listen to the news at 70.

I have a set of Polk component speakers and a Kenwood head unit. The Kenwood HU uses a Garmin GPS system/software. Really nice except the nav traffic sucks.

I was told on my model I couldn't get Navigation... Remember it is a 4door 2 wd. 4 cyl. Auto SR5...NOT a Prerunner. It is lower to the ground.

    Haha yea sounds like that

    To the OP
Just go aftermarket...research all the available head units and that way you can find what you want maybe even more features you haven't thought of

In fact when I told them I wanted the 4 dr 4cyl auto 2wd they said" they don't make it" . I said there is one in your parking lot. I had to show the manager what I was talking about... I was talking to the owner on another day and he looked at me weird when I said it to him. So I took him outside to see it. It is obviously not a popular package here. In fact if you go to the Toyota Website to "build a Toyota" It says you cant. It only lets you put in 4wd or 6 cylinder(I forget which) after you choose double cab. But I showed the Dealership owner and he contacted Toyota..... Keep in mind I have been in the Auto business for 23 years and have sold over 50,000 vehicles at the auction. I don't sell new cars I am just the wholesale manager. I know around here they don't like to swap in cars. But this wasn't the case. The one I showed them was the wrong color and it was sold. So they had to get one anyway. I am friendly with the owner from the auction and I have now bought 7 cars in the last 6 years from them between my wife and myself.

I will see who they use for their installs. I know they do a lot of Toyotas so they should be familiar with what can be done. I will post the results later. Thanks Randy

Ahh... so you've got a 5-lug like me.

Ya... we regular cab 5-lug owners are told that we can't have cruise control or intermittent wipers, but the Factory parts plug right in. $220 and 15 minutes to get both functional.

All the dealer can speak to is the OEM system, but an aftermarket system is not a problem, and the fact that you have the non-JBL makes it that much easier.

I had a 2007 Tacoma regular cab that didn't have intermittent wipers. Drove me crazy so I had my buddy get me the wiper switch for the SR5 and it was $99 and plug and play. I did a write up on it about 6 years ago on another forum with pix and you would have thought I discovered America with all the people that were thrilled with the info. .... I also hated the fact that it had roll up windows and I had power windows installed for $300 by a company that installs radios, sunroof and accessories. That was even better than having the wipers. I don't know if they offer power windows in the regular cabs now,but I highly recommend it. Not to mention it makes it even easier to sell. When I traded it in on my last truck,a 2007 Access cab(both were 2wd,4cyl,automatic non Prerunners, btw) It was sold before they even cleaned it. The recon guy saw it and told his brother who was looking for a regular cab with power windows which of course they said you couldn't get.

Still no power in the regular cab.
Frankly, I'm surprised they included window cranks... other than having a fabric headliner and hard plastic door panels, the thing is nearly as spartan as my '94 DLX.
Only thing it has on my '76 Datsun pickup is the above, AC, carpet, and the auto trans.

    Stock looking?

Stay the hell away from Ottonavi, Caska, and Rosen.

Pioneer, Alpine, and Kenwood are the only game in town worth the price of admission.

He'll still need the steering wheel control adapter.

But I agree... $1100-$1300 is way too much for parts and labor.

BTW: For the GPS antenna, just use 3M tape to stick a fender washer to the top of your air duct and stick the GPS antenna to it.
I have both my XM and GPS antennae up there under the dash and they both work better than the Sirius unit with the antenna on the roof, as well as the GPS in the Rosen.

ok steering wheel adapter is only maybe 50.00 so the 64.00 he is saving with the discount code I sent him he is set. And plus plenty of videos on installing that as well.
